I am an employee of International Paper at a liner board brown paper mill. We make paper for corrugated box plants and shopping bag paper. We were slowed way back on our production for most the the summer 2023. It picked up in fall then abruptly were back to a slowed production. Lots of visits by corporate leadership. IP shut a paper mill down in Texas I believe. I think that was around 2,000 people laid off. Sad. Those are family wage jobs many of them.
I worry that one day soon I will show up for work and be told the mill is closed.

the "housing crash" been similar. both my
houses retraced to the trend line in 2022, then
started rising again. I've looked through
a few hundred home profiles this month and
retracement is a common pattern.
