This Time Of Year, Annually, Is the Medicare Advantage Signup. Did You know....
Several yrs ago thx to Obamacare premiums were 3-500mo & you got shit benefits.

Most plans NOW are premium free, many have zero copays to pcp's and 35$ copays to specialists and zero copay Rxs.

How do these ins companies make money?
Medicare Advantage companies have a contract with the federal government. Medicare pays these private companies to take on the risk of its policyholders. So, instead of Medicare paying for your claims, they pay the insurance company to manage them.

....and that equates to BIG money.

Why the mega push from Oct-Dec? *Open Enrollment....(they don't tell you this but you can change ins carriers ANY time e of year)
According to brokers and agents, the commission structure of Medigap plans incentivizes the sale of plans. Seriously, it's money. Sorry, that's the honest truth. The commission for an Advantage plan can be roughly double that of the most popular Medicare supplement plan and it's paid all at one time.

Who pays for the adverts?
So, these commercials are not from Medicare or the govt. In fact, a large Medicare agency pays 'Namath' to advertise Advantage policies that beneficiaries can purchase from their agents. With Advantage plans, Medicare pays carriers to take on the beneficiary's risk.

Medicares funded through the Hospital Insurance Trust Fund and the Supplementary Medical Insurance Trust Fund.

Who Pays?
The plans receive some funding through monthly plan premiums, but most of the money comes from Medicare. The private insurance companies that offer the plans receive a payment each month from Medicare. This covers the costs of Medicare parts A and B for each beneficiary.

How much does the US govt pay Medicare Advantage plans?
.....around $12,000
The government pays Medicare Advantage plans a set rate per person, per year (around $12k in 2019, not incl'g Part D–related expenses) under whats called a “risk-based” contract. That means that each plan agrees to assume the full risk of providing all care for that inclusive amount.

Is it profitable?
The Medicare Advantage game is a way some health ins companies make extra money by taking advantage of the rules in the Medicare system. They do this by finding more health issues to report, getting paid more from the govt, and then using those extra payments to offer more attractive insurance plans to seniors.

Are Advantage plans a rip off?
One recent study found that Advantage plans cost the government $106 billion in overspending from 2010 to 2019, and nearly a third of that came in just the last two years. The price tag is predicted to balloon to $600 billion over the next nine years
[link to prospect.org (secure)]

What is the scandal about Medicare Advantage?
The report estimates that these overpayments cost Medicare $44 to 56 billion annually. Even though beneficiaries enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans tend to be healthier, the private plans systematically make their patients appear sicker to juice more profits out of Medicare.

What happens if you don't enroll in Medicare in time?
If you waited 2 full years (24 months) to sign up for Part B and didn't qualify for a Special Enrollment Period, you'll have to pay a 20% late enrollment penalty (10% for each full 12-month period that you could have signed up), plus the standard Part B monthly premium ($164.90 in 2023) ($174.70 in 2024).

Late enrollment penalties:

Are added to your monthly premium.
Are not a one-time late fee.
Are usually charged for as long as you have that type of coverage (for most people, that’s a lifetime penalty). The Part A penalty is different.
Goes up the longer you wait to sign up – they’re based on how long you go without coverage similar to Medicare.

Many ins companies & Doctors are getting bagged for Medicare fraud. Many insurance comps are pre authing certain services now. Many ins comps are denying services too.
[link to www.nbcnews.com (secure)]

If your Medicare ins carrier gives you any shit, denying services and or payment, file a CMS complaint against them, and one with your states insurance dept as well.

That part about you having to pay a penalty if you dont sign up on time?

I didn't have to pay that penalty because i had employer health insurance. I was 67 years old when i signed up for Medicare and did not have to pay that fine for not signing up when i turned 65.

I did not choose the Part C because it is like Obamacare. Hosptials and doctors do not want to take patients as much if at all, if you have Obamacare.

Those who receive BOTH Medicare & Medicare are offered monetary allowances, between $500-3000k by the respective insurance carrier. Essentially for low incomers. These Allowances may offer relief by providing assistance paying for approved everyday essentials such as: groceries, over-the-counter (OTC) products, utilities, rent, transportation, assistive devices, pet care and more.

United Healthcare offers a "Ucard" to regular Medicare beneficiaries, $50 spending in say RiteAid, quarterly. Use it or lose it, doesn't carry over.

A family friend of mine who works in the reinsurance side of commercial insurance said the American economy is going out of business permanently in 6-8 years. The debt ceiling will be $120 TRILLION by 2028 while the GDP will be $58-$60 Trillion.

You can do the math.

Applying online at the SSA, there's a prompt for Retirement benefits & to apply for Medicare.

Advantage can be fine if you're not prone to issues. But some companies will make you jump through hoops to get treated. If you choose a Medicare supplement plan instead, you will pay more but you'll get the best treatment. They can't refuse treatment and you won't jump through hoops.

Yep.

My parents are both seniors. I often eat dinner with them. Mom was just yelling about these rip off sign up adds on tv last night.

There is no advantage to these plans.

That's when you shove a formulary exception up their asses. Yanno how many times I've hadda do this shit for ppl?
In 07, I hadda have a gastric bypass. I wasn't overweight. 5.7 , 135lbs. I took a drug that fucked my pancreas.
Uncontrolled diabetes. Shots/pills no go. Needed the GBP. My insurance highmark Blueshield gave a hard no. Me n my dr filed a FE, dr panel denied, so we went to a hearing in camp hill. They deemed me experimental since I didn't qualify weight wise.

I took a line from the 90s HBO movie "and the band played on"

"how many diabetics is it gonna take? 100? 1000? gimme a number so we don't annoy you with the tens of thousands of dollars in Healthcare bills that'll be incurred, bc we can live another 30-40yrs, heart, liver, kidneys, eyes, teeth, fingers/toes, vascular......when you can CURE ME in 1 100k operation.

10 days later we got the approval.

With Part C Medicare Advantage, the government pays the insurance carrier a lump sum amount every month for each member they have, and that money is paid to them for each enrollee whether any visits or services or used or not.
And if the doctors can find a medical problem, then the government pays more based on the person’s diagnosis.
So the doctors are motivated to not call anyone well and healthy but to find high cholesterol, hypertension, pre diabetic, anything they can use to raise the monthly amount for that person.
Once I found that out , I dis enrolled fromPart C and went back to straight Medicare because I don’t want to cost unnecessary money to the government for no reason.

The Gov is conditioning the elderly poor masses of Americans to believe they are so loved and important with the free health insurance 'healthcare' goodies, like free cheese for rats, so when they see the cheese in the trap, they will pounce on it, and 'SNAP'! The trap is triggered.

The hook will be another pandemic, and you won't get your free 'healthcare' goodies unless you agree to be injected with the WarpSpeedII 'vaccine'.

Once the poor, elderly population is mass injected, costs will naturally plummet to zero because they will all be in heaven, simultaneously. Such a brilliant plan.
