Good, but you need to support local merchants more. Like your community. Where you love. Anonymous Coward User ID: 81368901 Philippines 06/09/2023 09:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The list of endangered retailers continues to grow this year. Many companies that actually exited bankruptcy in the past are now being threatened by it again, while others that proved resiliency and stability for decades are struggling with debt, weak revenue, and higher competition and may have to shut doors for good in the next few months. Forbes analysts say that a bankruptcy wave was already expected. The only surprising thing about it is that it didn’t happen sooner. For many iconic companies, this will be the end of an era. And for many Americans, this crisis will result in some lamentable losses of favorite stores, brands, and products. For example, after witnessing the bankruptcy and outright collapse of rival Cineworld, shares of AMC dropped by 38% in a single day. During the pandemic, the world’s largest movie theater chain became a meme stock and retail investors pushed its stock up more than 1,000%. Unfortunately, from that point on, things have only gone downhill for the entertainment retailer. A series of controversies have emerged, including allegations that Sam Bankman-Fried’s FTX may have manipulated AMC stock. More recently, Robinhood warned investors that the company was about to file for bankruptcy – which AMC later said wasn’t true. Well, at least for the time being because conditions continue to deteriorate from the chain. In February, its quarterly loss shot up to $287 million, and overall revenues fell again. The retailer is still in a very vulnerable position, and the current economic challenges may push it over the edge. Here’s the list: Abercrombie & Fitch Barnes & Noble AMC Macy’s American Eagle Outfitters JCPenney Forever 21 Kmart Foot Locker J. Jill Casper Sleep Alex and Ani Brooks Brothers Tailored Brands Wayfair [link to americafirstreport.com (secure)] None of them are Bankrupt. The CEO’s and top echelons are running off with the Cash. I hate shopping for clothes online and appreciate their presence in my town. That's the only one I'd miss from this list. The rest could disappear forever and I wouldn't even notice. I would miss Barnes & Noble. Borders went away some time ago, as did Walden Books. As for independent bookstores, those in this area went away as well--except for comic book stores. |

Not only that, they are drowning out all the good videos. It's hard to find a real human video anymore on YouTube. I think YouTube will go down because of this. It's called YOUtube, not AI tube. People don't want to watch AI generated material. They want to watch human generated material. Someone should up with a channel called AI tube so people can sit around all day long and watch shitty AI generated material, with incorrect information, and annoying voices. Then again, I was probably watching too much YouTube to begin with....so hey, now I can stop wasting my time on that website. But I bet within a year, YouTube will go the way of MySpace and other outdated websites, becuase NOBODY WANTS TO WATCH AI GENERATED VIDEOS. |

Some YouTubers are making bank with these. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76854956 Actually anyone can make these. I saw a tutorial. Have AI write a script. Add the AI generated voice to read it. Have it add images and come up with a catchy name. I wonder how many of these vids are just like that. The whole world is becoming a giant fake ass artificial sham. where the hell have you been? you really think hoards of high school kids can produce better video quality then fox news |

Probably Walmart was the reason they closed. Im from East Tennessee and I remember back in the late seventies and early eighties, th closest Walmart was in Maryville TN. About 45 minutes or so from Knoxville. Kmarts were everywhere. Once Walmart exploded nationwide, seems Kmart started ending. |

Right up there with Target in fact. Knew some great people who worked at A&F ... but those days are now long past, once Jefferies (who built the chain up from about 3 stores to thousands) was forced out the writing was on the wall |

I NEVER went into any of those other stores. The stores I miss from the 2008 economic disaster are, Circuit City, Radio Shack, and G.I. Joes. The stores I would miss from the next economic disaster are all regional, and local, like BiMart and Fred Meyers, or an individual store like Black Bird. |
