You're driving to work in the morning....
It's just a regular morning, you have the radio on, probably low so you don't hear much, you're sipping on some coffee or orange juice, dreading more of the same in this endless shitshow that has become modern society.

Then you see it, a flash and that distinct mushroom shaped cloud on the distant horizon.

What's your first thought?

Me, looks like a day off of work. Time to head home and pack up the gear and supplies and start the next phase.

At this point, I wouldn't even be shocked, I'd just slow down, whip a u-turn and get to it. Might try to make a call or two, but I'd assume the networks would by down.

Does anyone else know where they would go and do, time is of the essence, no point in dwelling in the "shock" of it all.

If you see the flash, then it is far too late to make any adjustments, oh and BTW when an ordinance is fired, the actual explosion is seen before the sound catches up with the action.

When I was in boot camp and they showed us that the first time it made my blood run cold, you will actually be in pieces before you see or hear anything.

Just the facts.

I get how it works, I'm not some idiot in a city, when I say see the cloud, I'm talking 100 miles away in the distance.

Everyone thinks one nuke is the end of the world. Even some of the largest ones only have a 20 or 30 mile radius(not the blast, but heat).

It's less of threat to me but more of an indicator, an indicator of the change coming.

The atom bomb over Hiroshima and Nagasaki killed 140k people . Its tragic we hardly dwell on it. I wonder if its the single biggest mass extinction event in one day in history sofar, besides the fabled flood.

Have you ever seen a picture that shows the power of various nukes that have been exploded in history? The ones we dropped on Japan would be the size of a dandelion plant while the Tsar bomb the Russians created would be the size of a 200 year old Oak tree. All nukes aren't equal at all. It's not even the actual bombs at this point. It's the fact that by destroying the US electric grid well result in every US nuke power plant going into meltdown.

Exactly, use that nukemap, pick the tsar, air detonation, over new york and it wouldn't even take out the whole city in the initial blast, sure, most of it, but the larger impact is the fallout and of course the EMP effects that would chain out to larger areas(regional grids).

The biggest "impact" it would have, is psychological and as being a permanent marker for change as we entered/moved into a new era.

benefits of living less than a mile from work...

and the walls being lined with lead to stop radiation...

LOL.

and if full on nuclear strike...

the oncology suite has 2 vaults with 4+ foot lead all around...except the ceiling...not sure how that would play out, but guessing it would. still be 100x better than anything civilians have access too.

I know all the codes to the doors...

access to meds, saline, would raid all the vending machines/cafeteria for food. locked doors/areas...

Think it could work to be honest.
Always remember these words: Work hard, study well, and eat and sleep plenty! That is the Turtle Hermit way! We must master the art of peace in addition to the art of war!

there will be no mutually assured destruction. there will be divine intervention. there won't be a scenario that you can somehow predict using the bible.
if you are in danger , take precaution. do not give up. use your head. plan to survive.
this scenario is meant to be survived, and you can call it a divine test.
prep. be mentally prepared. protect yourself and protect others if possible.
best o luck. it will be scary.

Back in the 1950s you could watch the nuclear explosions from Las Vegas.

People today don't understand how it used to be with nukes.

Small Town Strategy:

Return home. Check internet for news.
Drag television out of the closet. Dust it off. Hook up to black box video enabler.

Check freak-out scale of locals walking dogs, or just seeking air and escape.

Three hours later of hooking it all back up, prepare lunch. Hit local bar at 2pm for news.

I also remember reading about this guy who used to photograph the nukes detonated in the high atmosphere, from underneath the explosion, and he lived into his 90s.

Another thing you have to understand about today's nukes is they have much better refined uranium in them, so they burn a lot cleaner, and they're no longer like a dirty bomb, that has a ton of fallout, like they used in Japan, which were really dirty.
