Definitely feels strange, but I’ve lived out west and seen fires before. Whatever.. It smelled like burning tires the first day, but after some rain I could smell the pine tar. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 72215862 United States 06/06/2023 09:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Lehigh Valley is in the heart of this crap. Red Flag warning all day- humidities at 30% or lower. WE have had no rain in over 6 weeks. Looks like S Ca during brushfire season with the Santa Ana winds blowing the smoke from the hillside brush fires. I have not seen this much smoke since the 70's in Newhall Ca This shit makes smog look like nothing. The next two days of this crap and then maybe are first chance of rain in almost two months. WE are under a drough watch with a warning coming next week |

Maritime Canada, particularly Nova Scotia, is strewn with millions of downed trees from a hurricane (Fiona) last September, it is going to be a major fire threat for along time, just waiting to happen. Quoting: Rooster420 "airnow" shows all of the northeast in the red and from western to central NY in the purple (AirQualityIndex of 203, BAD)---> The primary pollutant being fine particulate matter with a width of less than 2.5 microns (PM2.5). This is unprecedented in this region. Anyone else experiencing the dense haze and the orange sun? The reflection the sun makes on the ground and other things is creepy AF. Below is a picture of the current AQI in the northeast region. [link to gispub.epa.gov (secure)] Yes. I’m in CT, lived here for decades, I’ve never seen anything like it Hey in Ct too…. Cheshire here and this morning I saw an orange moon and an orange sun…. Crazy as hell |

It cannot have been a "natural" phenomenon. According to the Canadian Weather Channel the cause is supposed to be lightning. But how could over a hundred lightning strikes happen simultaneously? Weather Channel has no explanation. Dutchsinse puts forward several hypotheses and the only one that makes any sense is that this was induced by a DEW (Directed Energy Weapon). The only question is Whoduunit? Any guesses GLPers? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78072053 Never in my 50 years have I seen so many fires so quickly, so early and starting in a similar timeframe like the fires this year, from coast to coast. I'm 68-grew up in SW Ontario and am back here in retirement. I don't remember seeing these kind of dry conditions/wildfire hazard warnings on the Weather Network before for this area. All the way from London and the 401 down to L. Erie. The sun was really orange Monday at dusk here too. Something a bit strange seems to be going on around here too. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 85562062 United States 06/06/2023 09:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Upstate NY here. It was really bad today. When you walked outside you could smell it and see it. The sky looked strange. Seems to be bothering people: coughing, sneezing, eye issues, sore throat and headaches. Quoting: delicateflower In the front range outside Denver. The snow and rain has never been this intense . My kids hate it. No birds around. Very quiet and unusual. |

No birds around. Very quiet and unusual. I work outdoors all day and noticed the wildlife has been very subdued. Last night I took the dog out around 11pm and noticed it was dead silent. Way out in the country with a pond in my backyard. The frogs never shut up. The night before they were singing away and I could hear owls and a fox family playing in the distance, but last night dead silent..not even insects. Anonymous Coward User ID: 85151762 United Kingdom 06/06/2023 09:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I’m in southern Ontario outside of Toronto at the moment. Can see the haze in the air. Sun is out but very hazy grey sky. Looking across any distance you can see the haze in the air. The rating for this area in above link is BAD air quality. Next level up is hazardous. I’ve never seen anything like this before. Quite disturbing. Quoting: afriendindeed I remember about 20 years ago there were wildfires in Quebec and the sky in Toronto was nearly white from the smoke haze. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78274705 Canada 06/06/2023 09:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes I have scratchy throat and I am staying indoors because of the bad air quality. The air outside smells of burning trees. Quoting: Busy Beaver I have a scratchy throat as well. I am up in Pembroke area, 1 hour 40 minutes from Ottawa. Very bad today. My daughter lives in Ottawa and the air index was 11, the highest it can go. We are 9 right now. Yes, I live in Ottawa. Most of the day was pretty bad although once we had some rain the air cleared a bit. It's not too bad now. I think we are primarily affected by a fire close to Calibogie. This fire has now been contained, which may be why the air quality is better again here in Ottawa. However, there are lots of fires in northern Quebec, just above us. [link to www.cbc.ca (secure)] Nope the smoke we are getting here in the ottawa valley is 90% from qubec fires, the calabogie fire is very small, in size relatively speaking. There will be a much thicker blanket from the queerbec fires overnight into the am. I am out near winchester, you? (Posting from a different source - same person) Main area of Ottawa, Hunt Club/Woodroffe area. I actually feel more uncomfortable sitting inside again. It wasn't so bad outside in my car with the AC blowing. Air quality is supposed to worsen again tonight. |

He shrugged and walked away to whatever he was doing I think no American was brought up to care about Canada. I still meet people who think hardly anyone lives up there. They dont even know that there are cities |
