Oh shit just stumbled across this thread. I live in central North Carolina and have been getting air quality alerts for the last few days for fine particulate and it's been really hazy... has this because of the fires?

There’s other threads, but they go off the front page due to all the worthless bullshit being posted.

Here in NJ the sky is yellow and dark, and smells like death.

Seeing this too, have Himalayan salt lamps, and air purifiers on full blast.

Talk about hell on earth, with all this fire and smoke

Very Surprised to not see any threads on this.

"airnow" shows all of the northeast in the red and from western to central NY in the purple (AirQualityIndex of 203, BAD)---> The primary pollutant being fine particulate matter with a width of less than 2.5 microns (PM2.5). This is unprecedented in this region.

Anyone else experiencing the dense haze and the orange sun? The reflection the sun makes on the ground and other things is creepy AF.

Below is a picture of the current AQI in the northeast region.

Hey OP, yes - I'm experiencing it here in Ulster NY. It's definitely creepy AF! Just got back from a quick ride into town. People are talking about it and they all seem to be on edge. When I was driving back, the local weather report came on the radio, and NOTHING mentioned abt the air quality (usually air quality is pristine here - one reason why I left NYShitty so many years ago). Not a peep. Sky is mustard yellow. When the smoke shifts, and you get a glimpse of the sun, it's an ominous bright red. o_0

I'm watching the animals - so far the birds are still chirping and the deer aren't making a run for it, but I'm awfully wigged out about this. Weird how no news whatsoever on the matter. But then again, perhaps not weird - given the state of the world these days. I have a feeling that they wouldn't give us a warning of impending doom as far as the fires go....

Thanks for the thread. Please keep this bumped!!!

No warnings until they announce “unsafe air” lockdowns.

These were DEW created fires. Almost all lite at the same time.

They need a way to get folks into their 15 minute cities ya know??

In northern nj, it looks like death outside. Very hazy and smells like smoke.

The moon a few hours ago looked like the sun. At first I thought it was the sun, as you couldn’t even look at it, it was so bright and hurt the eyes. It was completely red. Never seen that before.

Very weird out there, looks like total doom.

Someone posted the sat imagery showing all the fires in queerbec starting at the same time, trying to find the same I saw for the British Columbia and Alberta fires saw a couple showing massive fire breakouts all coming into play in an eerily similar way as the quebec fires video, maybe nova scotia was the same as well.

Never in my 50 years have I seen so many fires so quickly, so early and starting in a similar timeframe like the fires this year, from coast to coast.

Is it possible that this low air quality could last for a few weeks? There are so many fires to the north I do not see how this gets fixed. This time loop is showing us the forecast that lasts all the way until late Thursday night! And it doesn't end there.

Kind of scary to think about

It's pretty bad. The other thing I noticed was the bright red reflection of the sun on cars. It looked like everyone had a bright red light inside their car. Really eerie. I can only imagine what it is like in Canada.

I saw this video on a certain video based social media showing a satellite (I think) video of Quebec which clearly showed that these fires started in multiple spread out areas almost at the same time.

I've seen nothing in any msm news about anyone intentionally lighting them

Anyone seen any info anywhere?

Weird in upstate NY we had dark skies then it rained and it was clear. You know you get dark skies before a thunderstorm and rain

Must've went more west this time. Rhode Island was hazy and a red-orange sun most of the day, but no smell.

A few days ago, with the fires in Nova Scotia, the air smelled like an electrical or plastic fire. Very weird.

But there was no physical effect. No scratchy throat, trouble breathing, coughing, etc., either time. At least for me and everyone I know.

That's because it is forest fire smoke spreading on the air currents. You are smelling burning wood or what we normally call trees on fire!

It's pretty bad. I am glad I got 2 top notch air purifiers. I ran them all day and kept the windows closed.

But when the wind blew (which was happening all day) you could see a haze even inside so I also ran my large range fan to suck some of that out.

Never seen anything like this in the Northeast. It feels pretty apocalyptic and doomy. If that fire burns south the whole country is at risk. This is fucking serious.

Yes I have scratchy throat and I am staying indoors because of the bad air quality. The air outside smells of burning trees.

I have a scratchy throat as well. I am up in Pembroke area, 1 hour 40 minutes from Ottawa. Very bad today. My daughter lives in Ottawa and the air index was 11, the highest it can go. We are 9 right now.
