If you have an old lawn-mower in the back-shed.. you have a perfectly good generator. In a pinch, even an old weed-whacker can be stripped down & turned into a generator, fuel will be fairly easy in the beginning..

After a while & to avoid the chaos at the gas-stations, an old steam heat register may have to be yanked out of the dining room & cannibalized of it's parts 'aluminum fins & copper-piping' some rubber washers, a couple of large mason-jars, some rubber gas-line tubing & a nine-volt battery with a few insulated wires to make yourself some home-made hydrogen.. run a small tube directly into the carburetor & you're back in business.

Don't get these things bubbling too fast or you could blow your-self & the lawn-mower up.

I know it sounds ridiculous to a few 'younger' people.. but these are things we used to 'tinker' with, before the internet & way before google or i-Phones.
