Again, they aren't insane - they take an oath to Blackrock and others in a scheme called ESG - Environmental-Social-Governance, look it up. If they don't pledge loyalty and do this then this very small monopoly of investors promises to sink them by pulling financial support. So they do it. They essentially submit reports that have to show how they comply with the LGBRTL+ and global warming agenda and whatever else blackrock wants to push or their corporate social score is lowered. If your score is low, stocks plummet - because blackrock and vanguard own the bulk of the shares of pretty much everything at this point. It is end stage monopoly.

The corporations aren't as worried about consumers because all their competition also has to comply - so the consumer can't boycott everything. They think they can wait you out. Plus, the stock price is everything, they think these investors will help them through the coming hard times more than the broke consumers will by lifting the share price - if they tow the line that is.

Stuff that happens this fast, to this level of ubiquity, and seems this illogical, is usually quite planned - research it.

I’m a late boomer, or Joneser,, and the culture that I grew up in during the 60s and 70s, and that had its roots in the postwar period and the 1950s, is fading away rapidly. Lots of young people who were born 2000 and after have a sort of nostalgia for the 1980s, which, good and bad, was the recognized pinnacle of that culture - I lived through it, and it was a heady trip. Parts of boomerdom will live on, but most of it will be relegated to the “scrap bin of history”.
