This story is way strange.
Hope that there are some real journalist still out there like Fletch.
Someone needs to start asking some questions and finding out the backgrounds of everybody involved in how they are connected.
I for one definitely suspected this is one of those instances where the cops are involved in the trafficking of narcotics.

According to court records, on June 15, 2018, Capehart, then a patrol officer with the New Mexico State Police, conducted a traffic stop during which he came into contact with a 16-year old passenger identified as Jane Doe 1 in Farmington. Capehart requested Jane Doe 1’s phone number, email address and date of birth. Capehart then gave Jane Doe 1 a business card with his personal cell phone number. Approximately an hour after the traffic stop concluded, Capehart began texting Jane Doe 1.

They went to the wrong house. It's happened many many many times in the past in places all over this country.

They went to the wrong house , what don't you understand about that ? Explain how this killer managed to redirect police. Sheesh there's noshortage of stupid on here, as a matter of fact there's an over abundance.

Or the salvage yard was running a chop shop and selling the parts from stolen cars.

I worked with a guy years ago who said his son went to work at an auto body shop. First day on the job, a stolen pickup truck was brought in and within a few hours, was dismantled and the parts put up on the shelves. The son never went back there after that. This was in McKeesport, PA, a well known mob town near the burg. It was loaded with Italian restaurants that would mysteriously burn down.

True story: I saw Elvis at Ace Auto Wreckers in Newark, CA back in the 80s. Well, it looked like him anyway. He was even playing a guitar.

Back then, if you wanted to rebuild an old muscle car, you had to go to the wrecking yard for parts. That was part of the fun, spending a Saturday afternoon seeing all the cool old stuff that was there and finding what you needed. Now you just get what you need on line.
