The autism spectrum is a spectrum like a color wheel, not a line.

All "high functioning" share some traits but are very different. One may avoid eye contact, another may use too much- just one example.

Plus females are able to mask very effectively, especially as they age.

There is a very valid reason why none of our regulatory agencies will allow an independent comparison between people who’ve never taken vaccines and those who have.

BEFORE 1989 there were a lot fewer vaccines, though some like the MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) were REQUIRED at least in my state before a kid could go to school. That and the ORIGNAL Polio vaccine had been around a LONG time by 1989 so I don't think those are the cause of problems.

After 1989 what had been good became overwhelming wrt what they wanted kids to have, THOSE are the suspect vaccines (imo) PLUS the original ones from before 1989 where they changed the formulations.

Doctors only know about 1/2 of what they THINK they know, and research scientists are even WORSE.

Unfortunately the entire Medical Profession has become one of "formula treatment" which virtually REQUIRES Doctors to follow a prescribed path of dispensing medicine (which may actually be WRONG at times) or they are at risk of Malpractice Lawsuits and their Insurance may not cover them because of any deviation from the published standards. Once a "Standard" has been adopted it becomes almost impossible to change even if the patient outcomes start to go against it.

There is something going on. Vaccines. Change in Diets. Franken Seeds producing Franken Foods. All the crap they give animals now to grow them fast and with more "meat".

It could be ANY of those ... or could be a combination of those.

Get rid of all of those EXTRA vaccines that they have added since 1989 AND eat good NON Franken foods and I bet the rate would drop precipitously.

They changed the definition of autism to include other issues which were not in the autism spectrum. Why we are feeding boys drugs to stop being twitchy boys is a mystery to me. However, there is no denying we are seeing previously disturbing behavior in our kids. Ask any teacher about the near savage actions, attitudes of some students and the total lack of punishment for those behaviors. Prior to 20 years ago, if you said FU to a teacher, the next thing you saw was the ceiling as you got knocked on your butt. The next thing was your parents picking you up from the principals office. When education is not valued, emotion and power is. Enjoy. This is the society you get when defensive lawyers run the society. Google Autism Spectrum and browse all the learning and behavioral and mental issues that are under that umbrella. It’s not just the kid in a football helmet.

I'm in my 40s and just been diagnosed. We understand more about it now a days, so easier to diagnose rather than ignore it.

Nothing here. You may get help with schools but there's no benifits for autism.

It's being overdiagnosed. Any parent whose kid is the slightest bit different can find a doctor to officially place them "on the spectrum."

For the so called "high functioning " people, insurance doesn't cover a full diagnosis, there is a very long waiting list, and in the USA it costs thousands of dollars.
