Re: During TV interview Macron sneakily removes his $80,000 gold watch
I mean...I get it if its an antique...or solid gold or something? But I cant imagine a watch worth 80k....

like it would have to shoot lasers and hit the mirror on the moon for verification, solve some treasure puzzle, or something utterly amazing to be worth 80k...

like its telling time bro...this isn't rocket surgery. WTF?

I have a Rolex worth about 5k last I checked...and most people are amazingly impressed with just that...cant imagine what another 75k would add to the bling?

Problem is Frenc really dont like expencive stuff. For example they dont even produce a luxury SUV for this reason. French despise rich and expencive stuff. I guess he realised mid interview this fact that they will crucify him even more if they see him where and 80K watch. That will piss of a french mob that is allready burning down Paris currently :)
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78773610

It's called "French" with an H at the end, not sure if you're typing it that way cos you're badly educated or you're using that to be insulting...?

The French are taught from birth that money is bad and people who have it are evil. "Les bourgeois".

The fact is that there are no opportunities in France, Spain and many W. Europe countries. You do not create jobs. There is no way out. You are controlled. The government is your salvation insofar as money or LIVING is concerned. They own you.

Americans fail to understand that. It would take for you to move there to see that all your efforts to better yourself, to rise above circumstances are fruitless because "you're not part of the club".

Think about it this way: you're American and trying to get an acting career whereby you're famous, so you rake in the millions... any job interview is like that in France, in Spain.... only there is no dick to suck to get ahead because there's no Harvey Weinstein, so even if you look like JLaw and are willing like her and Scarlett Johansson, you STILL cannot get ahead in Hollywood because it's all nepotism and there's no one to give you a break, a cut, if you only sucked dick.

There's no sucking dick in France. For every janitor or clerk, the lowest paying of jobs, there are THOUSANDS of applicants. Same in Spain. You cannot get ahead, no matter what schooling you did, no matter what diplomas you hold.

French people have no experience of USA or what it could be like to be able to walk in anywhere, apply for a job and get it the next day; nor to study further as an adult to get ahead, when you only are alllowed 1 low paying job, there's no adults in schools in W Europe.

Maybe removing the watch during the broadcast was a signal to someone who knew to be looking for it?

He cant be that stupid, but maybe.

I've never been able to wear watches or rings, because they bug the shit out of me.

Back when watches were necessary, I used a pocket watch.

Today everybody has a phone.

Why does everyone assume he removed it because it was 'expensive'- because the tweet said so?

He was showing that thing off pretty good prior-

I would argue it was a sign to his cohort- 'time is out'

You are assuming his desire was to hide the expensive watch. Because, to most people it is an outrageously expensive watch. But, is it to him? Or is this just a "nice watch" to him?

Does he even think the average person is looking at the watch or, instead, listening to whatever he was saying? He is clearly trying to persuade in this video.

I think someone(s) knew to look at his interview for signals and he sent the signal. This used to be a conspiracy site. Think about this.

He always looks like a very rich guy everytime I see him. His wife looks like a very rich woman every time i see her. So, this is nothing new to people in France.

Yeah. I suppose telling the citizens to work until you drop dead so he can have an $80,000 wristwatch isn’t the best thing to do. Especially in France!
