Except the murder rate has gone up since Biden took office so how do you explain that. And I have searched out statistics on gun deaths and you can put an emphasis on “40%” but suicide is MUCH higher than murder, in fact I think it was something around 70-90% of all gun fatalities. You also had a higher chance of being shot by a policeman than being murdered by someone with a gun.
Facts matter, skewing statistics to fit a narrative is pathetic.

Maybe your time would be better spent trying to solve our mental health crisis since that is where the majority of gun deaths are coming from.

I see.

You don't have the honesty or integrity to answer 1 simple question.

lala

I'll give you one more try -

Do you think it is Trump voters/supporters that are committing most of the murders that your study claims ?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 85329647

We have no data to demonstrate that one way or another.

What we do know is that the murder rate in states voting for Trump exceeded the murder rate in every state voting for Biden.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 81326039

LMFAO

So you are a LIAR.

You know DAMN WELL it isn't the Trump voters/supporters who are committed violent crimes and murder.

Pathetic . Just a disingenuous liar.

When you don't have the facts or logic to justify your argument - just say 'we don't know'

And by the way , you can break down murder statistics by RACE.

AND

You can break down who voted for Trump by RACE.

So yes, you do know that it isn't Trump voters/supporters committing the vast majority of the murders and violent crimes.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 85329647

How do you know the political breakdown of who committed the murders?

Show us your data.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78079886

65% of homicides in those states are committed by blacks (give or take)

The rest of the murders are committed by Hispanics, Whites, and other.

95% of blacks DID NOT VOTE FOR TRUMP.

90% of Hispanics DID NOT VOTE FOR TRUMP.

Are you really this stupid ??

Re: REPORT: Murder rate in states voting for Trump exceeded rate in every state voting for Biden. In 2020, 40% higher in Trump states.
At the CPAC Conference earlier this month, Trump claimed that Bragg “is presiding over one of the most dangerous and violent cities in the United States… where killings are taking place at a number like nobody’s ever seen, right in Manhattan.” Trump told the crowd that Bragg should focus on stemming the alleged increase in violent crime instead of the “now ancient” story of Stormy Daniels “where there is no crime anyway.”

Stoking fears of a “violent crime wave” is a well-worn Republican strategy. But crime data for New York City doesn’t support these claims – if anything, it shows the opposite.

According to crime statistics from the New York Police Department (NYPD), overall index crime – which includes murder, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, grand larceny, and auto theft – went down by nearly 6% last month compared to February 2022 last year. Shooting incidents and murders in February 2023 were also down 15% and 28%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.

So far this year, the total number of murders in the city is 66 – a 19% decrease compared to the same time last year. This number is also 83% lower than 30 years ago. Similarly, the number of shooting incidents is down by 21% in 2023 compared to the same time last year. Incidents of felony assault and grand larceny auto are up this year compared to this time in 2022, but counts of rape, robbery, burglary, and grand larceny have gone down.

Incidents of the seven major felony offenses in New York City totaled 126,589 in 2022, up 19% from the previous year. But this is roughly the same level as in 2006, when there were a total of 128,682 such incidents. And last year's level of major felony offenses in New York City was still 46% lower than in 2000.

Subway crime is also falling. Between last October and January of this year, crimes on the subway dropped 16% compared with the same period a year before, New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced earlier this year.

New York City remains the safest of America's six largest cities. It is also safer than most smaller metro areas as well. Manhattan, the borough that Bragg represents, is one of the safest places to live in the entire United States.

Not really. Certainly not enough for me to ever give up my guns for protection. I’m not worried about burglars, I’m worried about my government and that is why we have 2A in the first place.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 81326039

There have been books written with titles such as "How to Lie with Statistics".

It is very easy to manipulate how data is interpreted.

The article was written by and for the intellectually dishonest.

The absurdity of the article is unworthy of rebuttal.

As a simple example, why didn't they choose to use the black population of each state as a reference???

Blacks are committing higher levels of murder than non-blacks, so why didn't they choose to use that as a measure?

If they had done so then they would have to admit that the murder rate is directly correlated with the level of the black population.

Also, the level of poverty is directly correlated with crime and murder. So, what the author(s) are saying is that impoverished areas that want change should just accept their impoverishment. Trump supported economic enrichment in these impoverished areas and that is why he got their support.

So, if blacks in an inner city are in anguish over their impoverishment and crime, then the article is saying that they should just accept it and not want to change things. The same goes for whites now living in economically distressed areas.

MOST of the people against Trump are wealthier or privileged. Teachers and other government employees are an example, as they have tremendous benefits and retirement plans at the expense of people who in return have none. Some of these people are on this board mocking those who pay for the very benefits they receive.

Re: REPORT: Murder rate in states voting for Trump exceeded rate in every state voting for Biden. In 2020, 40% higher in Trump states.
In this study, we collected homicide data from 2000 through 2020 for all 50 states from the National Center for Health Statistics Mortality Data. Data is based on death certificates collected by state registries and provided to the National Vital Statistics System.

We found that the murder rate in Trump-voting states has exceeded the murder rate in Biden-voting states every year this century. Cumulatively, overall murder rates since 2000 were on average 23% higher in Trump-voting states. For the past 21 years, the top 10 murder rate states have been dominated by reliably red states, namely Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Missouri. Even when we removed the county with the largest city in Trump-voting states (and kept them in for Biden-voting states), murder rates were still significantly higher in these red states.

Takeaways

The murder rate in the 25 states that voted for Donald Trump has exceeded the murder rate in the 25 states that voted for Joe Biden in every year from 2000 to 2020.

Over this 21-year span, this Red State murder gap has steadily widened from a low of 9% more per capita red state murders in 2003 and 2004 to 44% more per capita red state murders in 2019, before settling back to 43% in 2020.

Altogether, the per capita Red State murder rate was 23% higher than the Blue State murder rate when all 21 years were combined.

If Blue State murder rates were as high as Red State murder rates, Biden-voting states would have suffered over 45,000 more murders between 2000 and 2020.
Even when murders in the largest cities in red states are removed, overall murder rates in Trump-voting states were 12% higher than Biden-voting states across this 21-year period and were higher in 18 of the 21 years observed.

Facts like those trump states are blue states? I live in Missouri. We host one of if not the most dangerous cities in the US, which set a homicide record in 2021...it's literally so blue it went 90%+ for Biden.
Same for KC.
If the lefty blues in my red state stopped the drive bys, the rate would drop to near-zero. I live in an area of over 100k people and in my 39 years there's been like 3 murders.

Over the course of the full 21 years between 2000 and 2020, the Red State murder rate was still 12% higher than the Blue State murder rate, even when murders in the largest cities in those red states were removed. And the murder rate was still higher in 18 of 21 years.

Between 2010 and 2020, even after removing New Orleans and Jackson, Louisiana and Mississippi continued to hold the number one and two spots for highest murder rates. Alabama, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, and Tennessee were still consistently in the top 10 after removing their largest city.

In 2020, the states with the highest murder rates stayed roughly the same after making this change: Mississippi in first, then Louisiana, Alabama, South Carolina, Missouri, Illinois, Maryland, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Georgia.
