So far there's not been any issues but in the flight medicine world, I know of 2 fatal flight accidents that seem not to have any "reason" for failure, and a third that was successfully landed. It is truly frightening. "We must be clear that when it comes to atoms, language can be used only as in poetry."--NIELS BOHR |

Shit. An increase of anywhere between 6 to 15 times. Median is 10.5. So there is an average increase of 10 times the in flight incidents. He was removed from the flight deck and replaced by a non Southwest pilot who was commuting on that flight. This is now the fifth pilot incapacitation that I’m aware of in the past two weeks. I will post more details as they become available. @SouthwestAir @USFreedomFlyers @DocPeteChambers @LTCTheresaLong @P_McCulloughMD 5th pilot in 2 weeks who became incapacitated (that he has heard of.) Soon, flying will be out of the question. Unless they were inflight, a pilot riding the jump seat, from another airline even, can not just sit in to pilot a plane. I call bs to that. So many regulations would be broken with that crazy story. They would need to wait for another pilot to fly in on another flight to pilot their plane. I don’t think Vegas is a pilot base or big hub for Southwest. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 81231829 Does someone on board know how to fly.... A PLANE???? Twatter vaxxtards were calling BS on it yesterday. First time in my recollection where a dead-heading pilot from another carrier assumed a flight crew role on the flight deck in an emergency---or any other circumstance. Even though he was acting as FO and not P.I.C., embarrassing for SWA, to say the least, and a wake up call. Obvious issue is obvious. They can't keep the lid in forever. |

Great that the other airline pilot rescued but would think the protocol is for the co-pilot to take over. Guess one of them had to get the guy out of the captain’s seat, maybe that’s what the commuter did? Quoting: jackleson This same thing happened last November. A pilot went unconscious right after takeoff, co-pilot had to take over and return to the airport, he told the tower, that after he landed, he would have to drag the pilots body out of the seat, because the steering wheel for taxiing, was in the pilots seat. The pilot died. |

Airlines are stretched thin and are crying for experienced pilots these days, there's a shortage, and the pilots they do have are overworked. (Perhaps they shouldn't have fired all those pilots that wouldn't succumb to their needles.) Live not by lies. |
