[ link to www.independent.co.uk] It is not just the flowers losing their scent, the ocean does not have the "ocean" smell anymore, and has not for years. Once upon a time, when going to the beach, one could smell the ocean before you ever heard the breakers. People called it the smell of salt air, or salt water. Not any more. What happened to the smell of the ocean? I'm on the Atlantic side. |

They have been hybridized to last longer, have bigger blooms, and be more draught tolerant and disease and bug resistent, when you do that scent goes out the window. I took horticulture, a really good example is old fashioned english roses, they smell great, are small and tons of thorns, short stems, etc. Now compare it to one at the florist. |
