Let's take a look at the charts shall we.Let's look at the Dow.
If you bought the dow in Feb of 1915 at 1,655 it would take until Aug of 1923 to break even and that's on the up swing before the 29 crash, that's 8 1/2years.You wouldn't hit that mark again after the crash until 1932. That's 17 years.
Now if you jumped into the market in Nov of 1915 at 2,824, guess what 77 years later in Sept of 1982 it's sitting around 2,775. In other words no gains for 3/4 of a century.
If you were lucky and jumped in Nov of 1948 at 2128, 17years later you were up 333% at 9,304 in 1966. For the next 15 1/2 years from that peak you would drop down 73% to 2495 in 1982, back to where it was roughly in April of 1916 at 2544.
At the top of the market before the 1929 crash Aug 6.613 to Jun 1932 947 that was an 85.6% drop wouldn't see that top again till Mar of 1963 Just to drop again a few years later and not see that 6500 mark until Sept of 1991 roughly 60 years later.
The Market doesn't just go up. It can go down for years and basically be flat for decades.
What people only want look at today is from jul 1982 at 2495 to Dec 2021 39,209 for an out of the ordinary 1472% gain. A 40 year bull run that hasn't had anything close to a historical correction.

That's where I think we are today. Due to 40 years of loose monetary policy,QE,Bailouts, uncontolled government spending and free money during the pandemic. Our Debt load is now to much to bear and we have rising inflation. We are at the precipice like the Weimar Republic after losing the war and being hit with war reparations crushing them with debt. So now we face what they faced.

The government and the banks had two unacceptable alternatives. If they stopped inflation, there would be immediate bankruptcies, unemployment, strikes, hunger, violence, collapse of civil order, insurrection and possibly even revolution. If they continued the inflation, they would default on their foreign debt.
However, attempting to avoid both unemployment and insolvency ultimately failed when Germany had both.
