Shiny metals are pretty to collect and keep as an asset, that are measured in value on the scale of money or dollars, perhaps measured in other currencies, but an ounce of gold is only worth the dollar value, $2000 or so...Can't trade gold at the grocery store, they want money instead...

All investments are traded in dollars. you want gold dollars. you want stocks dollars...it's all tied to the dollar. dollar dies?...so do investments...
