I'd really like to have updates on the topic. But there were other countries reported too having rapid sea level declines, in addition to those you listed were also Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and I think there was even a France one. We can assume it's happening over the majority of the Mediterranean. Some Egyptian institute even had to make a statement on it because people were highly concerned, a typical nonsense government answer calling it "regular tides" There's been a whole bunch of theories, but I think this is very important. That much water doesn't just disappear without reason. Ice doesn't form that fast, I don't think. More likely something happened with the floor of the sea and the tectonic plates. |

Maybe the water didn't disappear, but an undersea techtonic plate had sunken lower? I know water funds it's level, but it would take time in the mediterrean sea because the inlet (from the straight of Gibraltar) is relatively narrow compared to the overall volume of the Mediterranean. Just thinking out loud. |
