Quoting: Anonymous Coward 85234919 Like i said at start, very likely to be usa navy seals, or uks version sbs. Only specially trained people in under water demolition could do it, and knowing how to blow up such a thing is not common knowledge, and you have to know about its structure, and what is needed for under water demolition. Nah, it would be easy to do it, and wouldn't even require divers. That's how I know this reporter just made it up. It wouldn't require divers at all. 1: drag anchor along path perpendicular to the pipeline, until you snag it on the pipe. 2. once you have that anchor line snagged, hook weighted explosive charge to that line. 3. release charge 4. charge sinks, guided by that line all the way down to where it's anchored in proximity to the pipe 5. BOOM! 6. ???? 7. PROFIT It would require less than $1000 worth of material and only rudimentary knowhow. Dude's a dumbass! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 85124707 United States 02/08/2023 06:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yeah, so? It did major damage to russia's economy as it is impossible to 'turn off' an oil well in the tundra so they had to semi permanently stop production at those facilities. Does it suck for germany? Yes, in the short term... but they are better off in the long run not depending on their enemies for vital resources and have already found more secure energy sources from the Nordics and UK and US. This move shut down a major percentage of Russia's ability to sell resources and their economy. We are in WW3, this is economic warefare. |

You should’ve stuck with a submersible,low-profile “drone” that can be quickly dropped off as a ship passes by, swum to location, then latch on for future orders to explode (several weeks/months later). |

Quoting: - Not Neo - Divers planted C4 explosives on three Nord Stream pipelines in June 2022 which were detonated three months later using a sonar buoy which broadcast a signal that triggered the bombs, according to the report. The attack was carried out in response to Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine and designed to force Germany and other European nations to end their reliance on Russian gas, it is claimed. The move would also disrupt Moscow's income from gas sales - which have contributed billions of dollars to its war effort. U.S. Navy divers planted C4 explosives that caused $500 million damage to Nord Stream pipelines between Russia and Germany, sensational report claims Report by Pulitzer Prize-winner Seymour Hersh details plot in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and Europe's dependence on gas from Moscow The White House and the CIA have denied claims the attack was carried out after nine months of secret planning overseen by President Joe Biden. [link to www.dailymail.co.uk (secure)] Act of war? A report by a "Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist" who of course has sources that do not wish to be named (i.e uncle intel) means it is "confirmed"? Luckily you are not a judge in a court of law with that little perception of how proof works. Having said that I would not be surprised if the accused did in fact carry it out exactly as described Its just that one journalistic article does not prove enough to me that it is confirmed yet. |

About 90 meters would be the depth where the explosion took place. As for only two nations that could have pulled it off, I think more than that but it did require some special talents to be in short supply. Even the US needed help, according to the article Norway supplied the Intel on where when and how with the US providing manpower. As for dropping anchor and pulling or whatever stupid plan you have in mind, the idea was for stealth in a highly patrolled region by the most sophisticated navies in the world. The Germans certainly would have blasted you to unknown waters, the Sweds would have told on you, the Russians would have sucked you and your anchor under before it touched bottom and you wouldn't have had time to regret it so both STFU |

You are stupid aren't you ? 90 meters is about 290 feet down. The pipe line where they planted the explosives allegedly is 270 feet down. The divers in question are certified to 130 feet down routinely. The article expressly stated idiot that unmanned subs were used in addition to divers. The deepest ocean dive ever was performed in the Marianna Trench and was 10 thousand 300 meters down or roughly 35 thousand feet underwater so I believe they could handle 90 meters rather easily dummy |
