Heah the reason is because it’s a sport. If someone attacks you after you back away that is not a game. That you think that is any way analogous is mind blowing. If he didn’t defend himself that could have been him laying on the sidewalk. Once a person is attacked he has a natural right to neutralize the threat. The threat wasn’t neutralized until he laid that kick on him

You don’t need to be trained to catch a kick…. Let alone neither did look like superbly trained individuals

If you’re a fairly good athlete you can catch a kick… Like you can also throw a good punch without being trained

There is a difference being kicked square in the nose and having your nose bone kicked upward into your brain. It is a technique to permanently end someone in a fight. Typically a palm thrust upward to the nose bone shoving it in the brain. I don't think the guy intended to do that with his kick, as much as he just caught him the wrong way when kicking him.
