I’ve seen this too. Doesn’t happen a lot. But it has happened for a long time. It’s always white shapes and designs. Shapes/designs that I can’t describe because they don’t exist that I know of. Like super advanced geometry. A different thing that happens is I feel like everything is huge and I’m just this tiny little speck and everything around me is massive and it is almost overwhelming trying to put it into perspective. Both these things only happen the first few minutes when I’m starting to fall asleep and don’t last very long.

Yes and I’ve had it waking up too. It’s closer to my face though, more like 1 foot away and has several “feeds” in a circular zone. I don’t consciously understand it but figure it’s a data upload or wetware update

Can you see while your eyes are closed? I have it’s is weird. I have to say it sounds nuts but I have done it when in a state of half awake half asleep

It’s like transparent overlays of geometry over the entire vision field . I find it mind blowing. My aunt did it and it freaked her out. I loved it and thought it was intriguing

Thought I was the only one that did this.
Done it all my life, every night.
I see people, some I know and some I have never seen.
Places, cities, towns, landscapes. I never know what I will see. Sometimes its only a few seconds, and sometimes it lasts for minutes, or even longer.
Its almost like watching a video without sound.

Re: Does this happen to anyone else just before falling asleep?
If I try to fall asleep on my back, I'll start "seeing" things, but it's not like imagining scenarios - I don't put any effort into the creation of the scenes. They just "appear in front of me" even though my eyes are closed.

One of the most intense episodes involved sitting on a highway overpass in the middle of summer, overlooking the traffic below. I could "feel" heat radiating from the cement and I could "smell" the asphalt from the road.

The more I try to ignore what's going on, the longer the sequence lasts, but if I try to focus on the situation or "pay attention" to any of it, it stops almost immediately and eventually switches to another setting. It's like changing a channel, but I have no control over what's coming on next.

Sometimes I can hear voices but not see anyone. Cant make out what anyone is saying overlapping each other different languages. Disturbing at first and it goes away. I want to believe its a collective's getting together but chalk it up as my brain is gathering sounds of people and equipment from the past just repeating them in a random action.

Yes, can see with eyes closed as well, but usually starts with eyes open, in the dark.

Re: Does this happen to anyone else just before falling asleep?
My bedroom is pitch black at night, no windows, power indicator lights on, just pure darkness.

Because of the darkness, I often will lie on my back and just do slow relaxing breathing and open my eyes just before I fall asleep. About 1 to 3 times a week, when doing this, images will light up about 5 ft from my eyes, almost like a low glow of a tv screen, and I will then in that glow see complex mathematical formulas, or scenes from somewhere around the world, it’s like watching a video. Years past, it used to alway be just old peoples faces, but distorted faces like peasant faces in medieval times, the faces shifting to different ones, women, men, almost looked like they were made of greyish smoke.

Strange stuff.

Anyone else have this happen?

Re: Does this happen to anyone else just before falling asleep?
Yes... I see faces and other forms while I fall asleep... it starts as weird balls or squiggles of light and eventually they come into resolution the closer I get to sleeping.

Some nights it's really vivid, other times I just fall asleep because I'm too tired to pay attention.

Da Vinci said it's good practice for an artist to pay attention to it, helps to commit forms to memory.
 Quoting: BFD

I used to get annoyed with seeing faces in everything but it does help with art. Sometimes I draw what I see
 Quoting: Music muse

Yeah I use "animal shapes" to abstract shapes so I can draw them accurately, but this isn't that.

I meant more like photoreal imagery in my mind's eye while falling asleep.

I have seen the faces, yes. Always old persons with creases and wrinkles. Usually not Caucasian like me. They are without color and come and go quickly, like they are peering at me briefly. No mathematical formulas, etc. for me.

I find if I shift my vision to one particular spot in the apparition, it seems to make the whole thing fade away. Like I need to just look at the whole image, and not look to specifically at different parts of it.

Re: Does this happen to anyone else just before falling asleep?
Yes, I get very vivid images before sleeping and sometimes when first waking up. Thousands of faces will flash at a very rapid rate. I can't count them it's so fast.

Recently while watching a podcast, it was mentioned when talking about discovering evidence of ancient advanced civilizations, that we store most data, pics & videos on hard drives which is a terrible idea for long term preservation.

The ancient advanced civilizations had to do better than carving things in stone and electronic storage if they wanted to tell their story and share their knowledge with future civilizations. I believe they discovered a way to store massive amounts of data, text, pics, videos in our DNA with the capability of being passed to the next generation's DNA.

We see the world & the past through our current lens of understanding. We're only starting to scratch the surface of storing data in DNA and don't yet have the ability to unlock the massive amount of data stored inside of the human race.

Also I believe we have a quantum data link with some off world storage entity. For example: someone is in a traumatic accident and comatose for months. Wakes up with the ability to play piano or do complex math. Where did this knowledge come from? Off world quantum download from a glitch caused by the trauma.

The images we see when dreaming or about to sleep are a data stream from our DNA or off world storage.

When I was younger, I used to be able to do this "zoom out" thing when I was talking to people.

The only way to describe it is that while looking directly at them, I could make it seem like I was zooming out and they would appear to get extremely small.

One time, I was talking to my mom who was no more than a few feet away from me. I "zoomed out" until her face was about the size of a thumbnail at arm's length.

YES!

I had these visions, like I was in space, very immense, indescribably huge geometric shaped objects. Also bland in color. Had this when I was a child. It was just before sleep. I shook it off most nights, as it gave me a VERY uneasy feeling the longer I tried to flow with the objects.

You could shake it off. It was intense. Used to try and stay in it as long as possible. Vey hard to describe, but after all of these years, I remember. I can still see the shapes, but prefer not to feel that very uneasy feeling again!

Later in life, much more, but the scary, immense geometric objects seemed to stay away. Thank God!
