Looks like the four corners area. Around Hovenweep NM.

I hiked a ton out that way.

Looks like a shelter built long long long ago.

Odd the way the rocks are formed in layers like that.

Reminds me of the (possible Templar) tower in Newport,RI. I would take a metal detector and search the area for artifacts.

Could have been built by evaporation of hot water in a caldera, and built up over a very long time, a long long time ago.

I don't know where exactly you were but lots of Anasazi in the four corners region and their building was more refined than in the video, more brick like looking.

I would guess it was built as a lone shelter and each layer dried as the one or a few individuals built it up. Probably used surrounding sandstone dirt and mixed it with water to make those layers.

Its cool to hike in those kinds of environs with no one around.

I spent an afternoon hiking around Hovenweep NM tripping on shrooms and it was amazing energy

Interesting. I had never heard of that before.

You are right!

Newport Tower (Rhode Island)

The Newport Tower, also known as the Old Stone Mill, is a round stone tower located in Touro Park in Newport, Rhode Island, the remains of a windmill built in the mid-17th century. It has received attention due to speculation that it is actually several centuries older and would thus represent evidence of pre-Columbian trans-oceanic contact. Carbon dating shows this belief to be incorrect.

Personally, I don't believe in "carbon dating".

Also thought it was a kiva structure. Very cool and out in the middle of nowhere.
