It sounded to me like someone in a sticky situation calling for help, whatever the circumstances.

The call handler or the system of dealing with such a call needs an overhaul (regardless of who was phoning). The call handler should have at least picked up that the guy did not seem drunk and was clearly indicating he was under some kind of duress / fear. They should have asked him this question with a yes / no answer.

It is incredible that the house did not have some kind of panic button, that the handler did not have a system of caller ID with programmed numbers, that they did not figure who he was.

Regardless of who he was, how the situation arose, or what might have been going on, the police call handler should have had much better training. The police acted quickly and professionally, except the profanity.

I don't think the call was that odd, especially coming from an 80 year old man. Have you dealt with old people, old people over the phone, old people who are confused?

To say I dislike Nancy Peloci is an understatement, but the guy sounded quite distressed and under duress, guarding what he was saying in front of the person he was phoning about.

Yes the whole thing was very strange, very possibly due to rather dubious and foolish actions. The guy with the hammer was VERY OBVIOUSLY threatening even if it role play stuff that became out of hand. The attack with he hammer in front of the police was very real and madness.

Old people get themselves in all kinds of difficulties in confused situations... Just look at the current President of the USA.

Everything I've read, it's seems common knowledge that this guy is a bit Rum character. He obviously got into a pretty weird situation, but that doesn't mean it is acceptable to get a hammer to the head.

Was this scenario a piss poor attempt to make it look like a deranged right-wing Trump supporter was hoping to attack Nancy and since she was conveniently not home, he attacked Paul instead? Obviously, the two men know one another well, but who better to create a fake narrative with you other than a close friend?

Something about this seems very staged, even if very badly staged.

As much as I dislike Nancy Pelosi and all she has done and stood for, and I have no idea what her husband is into or not into, whatever, but what shocks me the most is a) that the speaker of the house's house is not guarded by anyone, b) that their house didn't have a batphone to capitol police or secret service or whoever guards the person third in line to the presidency, and c) that they don't have any servants, a butler, private security, someone other than the husband all alone in the house.

But my review of it is it was an unlawful entry, by someone who is a little off, that Mr. Pelosi happened to be in bed/in his skivvies, as men are want to do in the middle of the night, that he was trying to keep the guy calm, and he tried to pretend to try and find Nancy for the guy while he really called 911, and the dispatcher practically blew it big time, again how can they not know the call is coming from Pelosi's house, and the cops who came to the scene didn't know where they were going, did they even know it was Pelosi's house, or get that this was a big deal, it didn't seem like it to me you would think they would have approached is quite differently. He was fine until the cops showed up; it was then the guy made his move with the hammer. So I sort of blame the cops for not disarming him as soon as they saw the hammer (whoever was holding it). It was only then Pelosi got hurt (though we didn't see the actual blows behind the door).

So that is our government at work...insufficient protection for high government officials apparently.

Turned into a ransom, assume the 911 call was forced to let the police know everything was alright at the residence and need not respond.

The 911 operator is dumb as a rock. Police respond, assume Paul was told to play it cool and get rid of the cops. Cops did the right thing, 911 operator should have sent more units.

Hate the Pelosi couple all you want, but they were victims that night. Lucky he is alive.

I understand that 50 DC Police aren't needed when Nancy is not at the residence, but there has to be some still around. Where were they? No way in Hell would there be no federal or DC police there even if the house is empty. This stinks to hight heaven.
