My dad's wife died in December and now he has invited me to come visit

ANYONE who tells you different has unleashed their dark wolf and no longer know how to keep is shackled. Life and light makes us go forward. Darkness keeps us suspended in a place we are not meant to be in.

I usually give others the benefit of the doubt, but boundaries are also very real for me. I haven't read all the posts in this thread, but if you decide to see him go into it with the realization that he might not be viewing the meet up the same way you are. You might be thinking of it as possible reconciliation after years of estrangement, but he might be thinking of it as, "I just lost the person who washed my clothes and made my meals for me, who else can I possibly get to do that now instead."

Some people truly change in life, but most don't, so be careful.

Your dad- sorry you are going through this! I have mixed feelings about this. Actually some pretty strong feelings about this.

Some questions you should find out. Is he vaxxed? My inlaws just about killed me with their freshly boosted updates. So, sorry- that is a deal breaker for me. My mil wanted to be all touchy feely in my face- totally out of her cold bitchy character (I am pretty sure it was her hive mind telling her to do it)

You are getting into what looks like an amazing relationship and I wish you all the best! (I know, I don't personally know any of you)

If you must go, at the minimum spend a few weeks talking on the phone beforehand.
