Major California Storm Incoming!!!

What makes this more serious than just a couple of inches is that the state has just received 5-6 inches in the last couple of days, so the ground is soaked already, with not enough time for it to move through the earth. Like deserts with flash floods, with the sand creating a natural barrier for water, needing time for it to perk down, the central valley has a very high clay content, creating a slow perk. If there is high winds, a lot more trees will be falling, too. My friend's brother got killed when his car hit a tree which fell onto highway 26 on New Year's Eve. It was around a bend and the rain was coming down so hard, he didn't have time to react. He was on his way to pick up his son. My other friend's choir room at Lincoln High School got totally flooded, so this next wave is going to be so dangerous. Also, if you have a large tree near your house, stay on the other side! And watch where you park your car!

Correct, in wet years, by Spring some major reservoirs have had the equivalent of 3x their capacity at full pool released for no other reason than there is still substantial unmelted snow in the Sierra Nevada that is coming and they have no place to put the water.
