U.S. troops are conducting exercises in Romania, just seven minutes away from Russian missiles from Crimea. This was reported by the New York Times.

The article refers to the previously reported redeployment of 4,700 soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division, Screaming Eagles, to Romania.

"The deployment to a NATO country close to the conflict in Ukraine is seen as a model of deterrence for the U.S. military, which recently abandoned direct combat operations," the report said.

The report said the U.S. military "launched artillery strikes, launched attack helicopters, dug trenches similar to those on the front lines near Kherson," and tested missile launches from HIMARS units.

The authors noted that the deployment of forces in Romania was designed as a warning to Moscow and to ensure the readiness of the allies in southeastern Europe to hold their positions.

Vitaliy Lyshchuk, a captive of the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade, said that he surrendered to Russian fighters in order to survive. This was reported by the news channel PolitNavigator.

First, Lishchuk was sent to the UK for military training, which lasted 35 days. Then the AFU fighter was sent to a combat position and was soon captured.

"Our Ukrainian side started throwing mines at us, one hit us, wounded many. Your men collected us, gave us first aid and took us to the hospital. As we drove up, mines flew, and one landed next to the car. It was abandoned by the Ukrainian side, and I don't understand, they probably wanted to kill us," the captive shared.

He noted the good attitude of the Russian military, which provided clothes and food, as well as medical care.

"We were told that they were killing and stabbing here, that's a lie, you don't need to watch TV. We were taken here, provided with things. When they put a tourniquet on me, they started to take apart my wounds, things were taken off, because there were a lot of cuts, wounds, bleeding everywhere. The Russian Armed Forces will again go on the offensive against Kharkiv in the near future. This was stated by the head of the Kharkiv garrison of the AFU (Armed Forces of Ukraine), Brigadier General of Justice Sergey Melnik, in an interview with the NOS publication from the Netherlands.

The Ukrainian military commander believes that the Russian army will launch an offensive as soon as the ground freezes. Now the offensive activity of the Russian Armed Forces is allegedly hindered only by relatively warm weather, due to which the ground does not freeze, and heavy armored vehicles will get stuck in the mud of the Ukrainian off-road.

Melnik also gave a forecast of the number of Russian troops preparing to attack. According to the head of the Kharkiv garrison, there may be much more than 200 thousand of them. However, the Ukrainian military man calmed himself and western readers with speculations that the Russian soldiers would allegedly be poorly armed and poorly trained.

The head of the Kharkiv garrison quoted the words of the commander-in-chief of the AFU, General Valery Zaluzhny, who said that "we will have to kill them all," implying Russian soldiers.

By the way, Melnik, the head of the Kharkiv garrison himself, does not accidentally have the title of Brigadier General of Justice: until recently he headed the Military-Legal Institute of the Yaroslav the Wise National Law University. In September 2022 he was appointed deputy commander of the operational group of troops in the Kharkiv direction and head of the garrison of the city. [link to topwar.ru (secure)]

At present, the most difficult situation at the line of contact remains at the Soledar-Mayorsk-Bakhmut (Artemivsk) section. This was stated in a telephone conversation with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. Armed Forces, General Mark Milli, the Commander-in-Chief of the AFU (Ukrainian Armed Forces), General Valeriy Zaluzhniy. The Ukrainian news and analysis website Strana quoted Zaluzhnyy as saying.

As the AFU chief noted, another difficult direction is the area of Svatovo and Kreminna, where the Russian armed forces were once able to stop the offensive of Ukrainian formations. Zaluzhny told Milli that the AFU is holding Russian forces in this direction "by overkill."

As for the Donetsk direction, here, Zaluzhny stressed, the AFU manages to defend Avdeevka. In addition, the AFU Chief of Staff noted that the Ukrainian formations continue to hold their positions in the Zaporizhzhya direction and in Kherson, although the facilities of the latter are subjected to constant shelling. On the Belarusian border, the situation is also controlled by Ukrainian troops, the AFU Chief of Staff stated.

Overall, the telephone conversation, as can be understood even from this scant information, was in the nature of a report by the Ukrainian general to a high-ranking U.S. military official.

It is also worth mentioning that the content of the conversation slightly differs from the ambitious statements of Ukrainian politicians, which are intended for the Ukrainians themselves and the sympathetic Western public. Things at the front are not going very well for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, if even in a conversation with an American general Zaluzhniy is forced to boast about holding the borders. As noted by the deputy head of the Ukrainian military department, in the current situation it is hardly appropriate to talk about "warning" of a Russian offensive. Even the executors of the orders of the Russian command do not know the day before the order what they will have to do, Malyar stressed.

The leadership of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry believes that the Russian armed forces are guided by the situation and take into account the current dynamics of the front. For example, since February 2022, as noted by Malyar, there has been constant movement of personnel and military equipment of both the Russian and Belarusian armies on the territory of Belarus.

The deputy head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry noted that the Russian troops stationed in Belarus are busy "imitating training. But in reality they are already put in the state of combat readiness, emphasized Malyar.

Interestingly, earlier many high-ranking Ukrainian military officials stated that an offensive by Russian troops in Ukraine from the territory of Belarus was unrealistic and, even more so, that it was impossible to involve Belarusian armed forces in the conflict. [link to topwar.ru (secure)]

The Ukrainian army has adopted the Swedish Bandvagn 202 all-terrain vehicles and a batch of them has arrived in Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian press, this is not an official delivery from the Swedish Ministry of Defense, the all-terrain vehicles were purchased by a private person and donated to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

As of today, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have received two all-terrain vehicles that have been upgraded at a Ukrainian enterprise. The cross-country vehicle has been converted into an ambulance to transport the wounded. It is reported that this equipment is designed to work on the front line, as it is impossible to use civilian vehicles there. In the future, the AFU should receive another 10-12 vehicles, which have also undergone modernization.

This is a unique and very necessary equipment in war conditions. It is adapted to transport the wounded on the line of military operations, where civilian medicine does not work

- said the Ukrainian official.

The Bandvagn 202 is a tracked articulated all-terrain vehicle developed by Bolinder-Munktell, a subsidiary of Volvo, specifically for the Swedish army. The engine and gearbox are in the front module, the driver and commander are in the same compartment, and the second compartment accommodates up to eight soldiers. The all-terrain vehicle is specially designed to move on snow and swampy ground. It has no weapons. Speed is up to 35 km/h, on water - 7 km/h. Movement is made by rewinding the caterpillars.

Production of all-terrain vehicles began in 1964 and lasted until 1981, when it was replaced by the Hägglunds Bandvagn 206.

Re: January 2023 Ukraine updates.
In the year since the EWS began, the U.S. has spent half of its strategic oil stockpile in an effort to keep gasoline and oil prices down.

The Biden administration is making desperate attempts to achieve lower oil prices in order to be able to freely replenish its strategic reserves, carelessly squandered in 2022.

To this end, the U.S. authorities even went so far as to "dump" the alternative "president" of Venezuela, Juan Guaido, who was appointed by them to destabilize the political situation in Venezuela. This is another wake-up call for those who get a standing ovation at the reception in the U.S. Congress. First the applause, then the very drain...

Actively using U.S. oil reserves, the Biden administration tried to lower the degree of discontent in the country over the decline in living standards caused by reckless spending on Ukraine.

Despite the decline in the general standard of living, U.S. gasoline prices have remained roughly flat, but the amount of strategic reserves has fallen from the 638 million barrels of oil available in January 2021 to a record low of 375 million barrels in December 2022.

According to several Western media outlets, this figure for strategic oil reserves is the lowest since 1984. Washington currently has about half of the required "rainy day" stock of oil at its disposal.

Currently, there is a rise in world prices for Brent oil, which has already reached $86 a barrel. [link to topwar.ru (secure)]

Pakistan has transferred another large batch of scarce shells to Ukraine.

If until recently Pakistan used to supply Ukraine exclusively with Soviet-standard 122mm and 152mm shells, it has become known that Pakistan has also transferred to Ukraine a batch of 50,000 pieces of 155mm ammunition. 155-mm. ammunition, moreover, produced in mid-2022.

According to preliminary reports, the ammunition was supplied to Ukraine via a European country. Because Pakistan has its own production of such ammunition, it makes it possible to supply such shells to Ukraine on a regular basis, all the more so because the West is willing to sponsor the production of shells for Ukrainian tanks and artillery.

In the pictures presented at Ukrainian military positions, one can see M4A2 charges as well as 155mm M107 ammunition. This, in turn, points to the fact that Islamabad wants to use the situation in Ukraine for the production of such ammunition, which, by the way, Ukraine needs about 1-2 thousand rounds a day, which only Pakistan alone can provide.

So OP censored this twice before, but regarding that agit prop video, here are some numbers to put that into perspective

According to TASS, the total number of civilians killed in the 2014 Donbass conflict which is the subject of that video, around 2,600 civilians died as the result of military action by Ukraine, the breakaway “Peoples Republics” and Russia, who invaded Ukraine in 2014.

As of December 26th, a total of 6,884 civilians have been killed since Russia invaded in February 2022, including 428 children.

[link to www.statista.com (secure)]

That doesn’t count perhaps 200,000 more military deaths from both sides.

Who knows when the war will end and the killing will end, but it’s safe to assume that there would not be more than 200,000 dead if Putin had not invaded. And holding up those 2,600 civilians killed in the Donbass eight years ago as justification to invade Ukraine is nonsense.

This will probably get censored again, but it’s objective, on-topic and accurate perspective.

The most powerful explosion aired on French TV - the destruction of a temporary AFU base by a missile.

After the missile hit the Man Hotel in Druzhkivka, a second explosion is clearly visible - it is the detonation of ammunition stored there.

Druzhkivka, located near Kramatorsk, has been occupied by Kiev since 2014, the front is approaching it, and the city is filled with "vsushniki," who use hostels and hotels to set up temporary bases.

Curiously, the Great-Ukrainian people do not show any footage of the destruction of the Man Hotel, they only show the Ice Arena, which was also hit.

U.S. troops are conducting exercises in Romania, just seven minutes away from Russian missiles from Crimea.

Soldiers of one of the RF Armed Forces units used an anti-tank guided missile the night before to burn an enemy group that was trying to advance in the Zaporizhzhya direction, reports the wargonzo project.
The author of the video commented on the situation briefly: "This is for them for Makiivka.

After I was given first aid they gave me my things. They dressed me and fed me.

Marine's update.

The first minute shows the letter from the US to Russia, stating that NATO will not expand Eastward one inch from Germany.

Sickening.

"Washington D.C., December 12, 2017 – U.S. Secretary of State James Baker’s famous “not one inch eastward” assurance about NATO expansion in his meeting with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev on February 9, 1990, was part of a cascade of assurances about Soviet security given by Western leaders to Gorbachev and other Soviet officials throughout the process of German unification in 1990 and on into 1991, according to declassified U.S., Soviet, German, British and French documents posted today by the National Security Archive at George Washington University ( [link to nsnopegwu.edu)."]

The great James Baker, after whom is named the Baker Institute in Houston, made a commitment in writing.

Where is NATO now?

James Baker is 92 and still lives in Houston.
If I was such a great man, who helped shape the modern world , I would definitely have said something when the solemn commitments made by the US and himself personally were violated.

You see even Henry Kissinger at 100 years old is trying to fix the mess this has caused. Shouldn't Mr. Baker speak up as well?

Where has personal integrity gone? Is everyone part of the new sleazy cabal?

Yes, I wish they could just negotiate some sort of a peace. Sooner later it has to end or the world will burn.
 Quoting: JustmeTX

why?
why negotiate with the enemy? to give him a break and go through it again in 50 years?
there is no need to negotiate with anyone.
it is necessary to destroy them to the asphalt.
All those who support Soros Zelensky NMP LGBT Nazis.
or name at least one reason why it is necessary to negotiate with them? do you believe they will change? are you serious??
get the fuck out of these pink snot and decide for yourself.do you want to live in a normal world? then we'll have to be patient.you will not be able to eat the fish and not wash the frying pan.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10761982

I have conducted negotiations around the world as part of my job. In my opinion, it is always a good thing.

You lay out the facts, the concerns, the risks and you figure out who owns what assets, risks, debts, etc. If both sides negotiate in good faith it is always going to be a good thing.

This one would be pretty simple actually. Putin has already pretty much laid out his objectives and concerns.

I would suggest the following:
1) Russia retains sole rights to the lands it now occupies and (Crimea and Donbas) which have voted overwhelmingly to join Russia. And who could blame them? they were getting shelled by their own country! The Dniper river makes a proper dividing line. SO that is the dividing line. To the West would be Ukraine, to the East would be Russia.

2) Ukraine must promise not to join NATO. Not have nuclear weapons and not to base NATO missiles in Ukraine. Ukraine must remain a neutral buffer between NATO and Russia.

3) Ukraine must immediately remove anyone in their government or military with Nazi affiliation, including tattoos.

4) If the peace is broken, give a list of countries that will guarantee the peace by military intervention if necessary. Something with some teeth in it, since the US and EU reneged on the Minsk accords.

5) Russia to be given a space in Kiev for a large consulate.

6) Ukraine retains its 1 remaining port city so it will be able to ship to the international market. Otherwise, it is a dead rump state.

7) Ukraine must close down all bioweapons labs.

8) All sanctions against Russia to be stopped. Their seized assets to be returned. Their right to operate natural gas supply pipelines to Europe restored.

Otherwise, let the war progress until Ukraine is totally defeated. But this introduces more costs, and risks to both sides. Risk of WWIII, risk of Nuclear war. ANd certainly the costs to continue the war and then rebuild the country that has just been destroyed.

Both sides have an interest in peace, or at least they should.

But the MIC loves war and the money it brings, and Biden (Deep State) loves the ability to continue to bleed money from US taxpayers and pretend to give it to Ukraine's military, when in fact it is going into various people's pockets.

Honestly, the only alternative I see is a nuclear war, which is where this is all headed.

Sooner or later, something significant will happen, and the nukes will come out of the silos.
 Quoting: JustmeTX

it's all very nice.
There will be no more Ukraine.
Zelensky is the last president of Ukraine.
I'm not sorry. As an independent state, Ukraine has not taken place in 30+ years. and it will not take place. There is no separate people there. It will always be a suburb (this is how the word "Ukraine" is translated from Polish). The question is which country's outskirts. This will be decided by the people of each region. Not you and me. And Putin will not take on such responsibility. This "outskirts" is not the first time since the 12th century that it has become a bone of contention between Russia and the West.

There will be no NATO either. NATO has not just outlived itself, it has always brought only evil, ask 120+ countries of the world that NATO bombed.
can you give me at least one reason to leave IT? why do you need NATO?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10761982

After the war, Moscow will be allowed to survive as an impoverished European backwater, with everything east of the Urals cut into manageable oil and agriculture production districts.

Russia's Far East, with its ports on the Pacific, will be handed over to China for rapid development of its neglected and mismanaged resources.

Putin has made of Russia something too dangerous for the rest of us to allow to exist.
Thus it will be dismantled and given to China.
