Quoting: Anonymous Coward 81211925 The teachinginjapan says many english school in Japan must not be worked with, as garbbage. Which of the school are biggest garbbage heap to work for? They say Heart, JoyTalk, Interactive, Shane School, Border Link, Gaba or NOVA, and there’s Innovations, Peppy, are garbage heap schools BOTTOM OF THE BARELL to avoid at ALL COSTS! FYI--teaching English in Japan is a shit job. FYI--if you learn a lot of Japanese before going to Japan, this will help you immensely and immensely in getting a job there--otherwise you are just another gaigin who fell off the train in Shinjuku Station. Speaking here as an ex-pat who lived and worked there with a spouse-visa for over 5 years. I can't think of a good school to work for. The best deal is to work for a school district and this may take you into the country for a long term gig. I don't know how to apply for this. I think there is a way to apply for teaching job with public schools from outside Japan, but you'll have to research this yourself. But you will need a undergrad degree at the very least to get a visa. And you will need $$ to weather the dry unemployment period as Japan is expensive. As for getting a visa from Romania--don't know. People from the British commonwealth countries seem to have it easiest. I suggest you research if your drive's license is transferable to Japan because it will be easy to get a Japanese driver's license without going through a driver's school there. A scooter is the best transport for a foreigner, that is until you can afford a K-Car. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77438666 Netherlands 01/06/2023 12:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Does the English school in Japan still use the 'Joytalk management technique' of threatening their teachers with the police when they want them to stop working and renting out apartment to teacher at over price and then when they want to evict threaten the teacher and control the apartment? It is double benefit for them. They like to hire Filipinos and other people with broken English, so is it worth learning Tagalog to work for them? |

OP you should Google 'Which school in Japan is the best for teaching' and then just send out your C V to every school there is and within a few hours you will see replies starting to come to your inbox. Soon you will be working with some 'Im really funny, no I am!' bald looser with facial hair who is an 'Academic Director English Teacher' in some dingy building in Osaka at an 'English School', being told what to do like a dancing mon key, and being paid less than a 7/11 worker. What could possibly go wrong? |

Westgate insists you live in their housing so they can pay you half. They are notorious for denying anyone that refuses. Interac also likes to do it. Shitty dancing mon key English schools gonna shitty dancing mon key English school. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79421631 United States 01/08/2023 12:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Assuming you haven't done any research yet yourself, this is the gist of it: Interac is arguably the most infamous of what are known as Dispatch Companies, along with others such as Joytalk, Borderlink, and handful of others. They're private companies that basically give you a tiny bit of training that amounts to, "be a good dancing monkey, repeat everything the Japanese Teacher of English says in English during the class (hence why it's also called "human tape recorder"), and try to keep the schools happy". They then assign to you a public school somewhere in Japan, and it's a complete crapshoot as to where you'll go, though usually it's somewhere in the countryside. You get a gross salary of about 210,000 yen with Interac... but then they take out rent for an overpriced tiny apartment, plus general health insurance in Japan, and also car insurance if you're driving a car- so really, you only get 150,000~180,000 yen a month. And at the school you make no lessons of your own- you literally just follow whatever directions the JTE gives you. Plus, it's also only a 1-year contract, so there's not much job security- you have to hope your school likes you, or else you're going to either be out of a job or moved somewhere new. Just don't go for a predatory dispatch company like Heart or Joytalk. And steer clear of Interac Network at all cost. I know someone who was working for them in the Kanto region. Fired via a Zoom meeting because they lost the contracts with almost now time to find new employment. Opted to comeback home and I think they're applying for both this cycle of JET and gradschool in Japan. Take this one I work at a major ALT dispatch company (JoyTalk), they do not pay my pension. I work 35 hours a week as well, though they probably are claiming the 29.5 (I've done the math, I'm in the classroom teaching more than 30 hours a week). When I inquired about it they specifically lied and said that I didn't need to bother with it, it's not required. They're used to most employees leaving within a year to go back to their home countries and rely on them not getting caught not paying by the government. There are a lot of black companies like that in the English teaching business in Japan. Around Jaapps Never Relax Joytalk type companies and their leaders Hiroto Tsuchira featured are scum of the earth who would be in prison if they were in America and thats' just one of the black companies in Japan, there's a lot of them around. |

I'm posting about my recent experience with Yaruki Switch Group. I read many reviews (bad) about the company, and I can confirm some of the management complaints are true. I decided to use a recruitment agency to help me with the job hunt in Japan as I am unfamiliar. I had an initial Skype interview with the recruiter for Yaruki, but she never showed, even after giving her a 15-minute courtesy (which I rarely do). I sent her multiple video requests over the 15 minutes, but she didn't answer them. Many complaints about working at Yaruki Switch Group are all over Reddit, and I am happy to have had this bad experience before getting in too deep into the process. The recruitment agency only connected me with Yaruki Switch Group, which leads me to believe most of their job placements in Japan are with them. The recruitment agency replied to my email, thanking me for informing them of the no-show. However, I haven't heard from them since. They haven't mentioned any other schools in Japan during our whole correspondence. Around Jiaps never relax? |

A scooter is the best transport for a foreigner, that is until you can afford a K-Car. NOVA? NOVA? HAHAHA THAT IS A JOYTALK ER SORRY, TSUCHIRA HIROTO TIER SH1T COMPANY THAT EXPLOITS WORKERS! You're asking for a more "realistic" experience, by which you mean a good experience? When everyone's giving almost entirely negative reviews and experiences, it's because the company's shit. It's well-known as being one of if not the worst in the industry, and that's an accomplishment since most of the companies in this industry aren't good. The realistic review is that it's bad and that they get into lawsuits for failing to pay their employees among many other things. If you're looking for positivity to justify the fact that you're planning to work for NOVA, you won't find it easily because the vast majority of people who've shared their experiences working for NOVA only have negative things to say about them. You don't need other people's positivity to justify your choices, do what you think is best and only you can decide if it was worth it. Everyone's experiences are what they are, nobody can say for 100% certain that yours will be the same, the abundance of warnings and red flags are there and it's up to you if you want to listen to them or take the plunge and hope you're one of the lucky ones. |

But hey, sure - easy job, work for some a55 m0nkey like Hiroto and his black company, don't really have to do any work or use your brain, and a good gig if you are 23 and just out of university and want to have fun in animeland for a while before going back to gaikoku. All big chain eikaiwas (and even most of the small ones) and the dispatch companies are black companies that essentially run gaijin slave labor factories. If you absolutely must come to Japan for a year, please for your own sake, do it as an ALT (JET, Interac, Altia). ALT is a pointless job as well, but at least it's easy and will leave you with lots of free time with a similar paycheck, but just remember you will be working for a55 m0nkeys like Hiroto and his illk Just don't forget to remember to leave. |
