Boy howdy, but there are a lot of misconceptions about hypnotism. It really is a fabulous healing modality. I was watching this very long video earlier, and therein Dr. Huberman is talking about trauma a person experiences, and they're finding that if a person is taken right back, right up close and personal, with the initial trauma, then the likelihood of the person getting over the trauma is almost assured. I can tell you straight up from personal experience that hypnotism was the singular catalyst for me getting over a trauma, because I was taken right back to the incident....I was able to "recoup" myself into one being, rather than being someone who had a broken psyche. What was taken care of in the span of about 45 minutes, didn't even come close to be taken care of with two years with a psychologist. But this Dr. Huberman is awesome, a neuroscientist at Stanford. This is the second interview with him I've watched today, although I do have a bit more to get through of this one....heh, I had to go see what self hypnosis is all about, and ran across the vid in my op-- [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] You never change things by fighting the existing reality. I thought I'd bring it to this thread, in case someone else is interested in self hypnosis. It's a podcast, and it's long, but I think it's going to be so fascinating to learn the particular processes that happen in the brain and whatnot while under hypnosis, I'm not even going to know the time has passed. Given the only mainstay/day in, day out item in my life that causes me stress and anxiety is smoking, then I need to "treat" that stress and anxiety, too. Apparently, this hypnosis that Spiegel does raises the likelihood of quitting smoking from 5% to 23%....heh, and that makes it another tool in the toolbox of quitting smoking for me. I watched the one on nicotine this morning, which is why I'm now watching the one above. [link to hubermanlab.com (secure)] Well wishes that everyone is doing well and fine today.... After holding then apart for a few seconds, any partial relaxation or diversion of thought ie. thinking of elastic bands on them, would reduce the conscious effort to hold them apart and they would naturally move closer and touch. Just saying. |
