Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78151287 This is what really helped me. I sleep in a recliner now. I had to quit talking meds because of my kidneys. I still get heartburn occasionally. I drink skim or 1% milk. High fat content can make it worse. THIS. Also try a 24-48 hour fast. It “turns the stomach off” and allows for a reset. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 84758007 United States 12/04/2022 07:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've heard that eating an apple before bed works. Quoting: WaitTressSandwhich Acid reflux occurs when stomach acid rises into the esophagus. Some say that eating an apple after a meal or before bedtime may help neutralize this acid by creating an alkaline environment in the stomach. Sweet apples are thought to work better than sour varieties. more info here: [link to www.healthline.com (secure)] Actually, its sounds counter intuitive, but it's low acid that cause heart burn. The esophagus sphincter hat detects acid opens up when it's too low. That's why viniger works, because it's low PH so it raises the acid and closes the sphincter. |

Quoting: BFD That's what works for me. Apple cider vinegar contains 5-6% acetic acid. Can you explain how the chemistry work for acid reducing acid reflux? I know that it's nowhere near as acidic as HCL but for some reason it seems to work. I know that's anecdotal. Heartburn comes from an imbalance to me. Food to digestive fluids should be bananced the apple vinegar seems to balance things for me. CT needs to elevate, consider when she eats and what. I have Barrets and have learned to do this. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 84480587 Ireland 12/04/2022 07:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If you don’t have enough stomach acid, the lower esophageal sphincter doesn’t close properly allowing contacts to splash up into the esophagus. That’s why apple cider vinegar works, it’s just acid, the stomach detects the acid and tightens the sphincters in the stomach preventing acid from getting into the esophagus. |

I know that it's nowhere near as acidic as HCL but for some reason it seems to work. I know that's anecdotal. Because of this release of the proton (H+), acetic acid has acidic character. Acetic acid is a weak monoprotic acid. In aqueous solution, it has a pKa value of 4.76.[14] Its conjugate base is acetate (CH3COO−). A 1.0 M solution (about the concentration of domestic vinegar) has a pH of 2.4, indicating that merely 0.4% of the acetic acid molecules are dissociated.[a] However, in very dilute (< 10−6 M) solution acetic acid is >90% dissociated. basically in dilute solutions it goes back and forth thus its both alkaline and acidic nature....counterintuitive i know... but damn good for the body And this is why we can't have nice things. |

Get the Braggs stuff with the sediment or "mother" in the bottom of the bottle. Use a straw and/or rinse afterwards so you don't mess up the enamel on your grill. It took about a month, and my heartburn was cured. I’ll still get a twinge every now and then if I drink a beer the night before, and when I do, one tablespoon of ACV knocks it out in about an hour. I forget why. ACV for a quick fix. Keep the acid down by eating something small like a cracker frequently. They say heartburn while pregnant means a baby with a full head of hair. Good luck Lady. The heartburn stage is usually just the first trimester. |

Most food is shit these times without the nutrients needed for the body to power and heal itself. Part of what I wrote somehow didnt post. If your body gets used to a pattern of eating at certain times it will be ready for the food. As such if one does not eat there is a concentration of acid but no food. If one feeds and sleeps its not the best digestion situation and adds pressure to keep the system working properly. |
