One very grim look at the worst case scenario...

There is no doubt as soon as Russia stepped into a Ukrainian civil war, NATO decided to involve itself in a proxy war with Russia and ethnic Russian Ukrainians, using Ukrainian Nationalists controlled by groups of Right Wing Ukrainian militia.

Meanwhile everything is being done to escalate what has been a bitter, sectarian conflict that has been bubbling away for 70+ years and in fact several hundred years of belligerent squabbling among various Slavic tribes.

There was. Zelensky could have stopped genociding the Russian SPeaking Ukrainians in Donbas and Sworn Neutrality and not let NATO come into Ukraine. That was the deal that Nasty old Putin offered Zelensky.
