I did tool and die for a while, I know this smell well. The cutting oil burning off in a spiral mixing in with the smell of Pall Mall’s.

The smell of evaporating 100LL as you sling it across the ramp
after draining a bit from the bottom of each tank looking for
condensate.

The smell of old aircraft interior and electronics heating up.

The smell as you put on the headphones and pull the mike with the little foam cover close,

The last breath of outside air as you close and latch the door,

Then the smell when the prop turns and the motor fires off to a roar...
