Quoting: InTheGLPHood This, I can make 8 burritos at home with 1 lb. of hamburger, 1 can of refried beans, 1 package of mix (or use your own spices, do that too) 1 onion, 1 small pkg. of shredded cheese, 1 can of enchilada sauce, 1 pkg. of tortillos for: $12.00 approx. Doesn't take that long. *If you add rice, you can stretch the meat and cheese and make like 12, so $1 each. a burrito with 1/8th of a lbs. of ground beef? C'mon, man. You forgot the cheese and beans. A standard serving of ground beef is 4 oz, and who can't eat two burritos? 1/8th oz of meat + 1/8 oz of beans and cheese is 1/4 lb.+ That's equivalent to a quarter pounder. I didn't say anything about how many to eat. Eat 1, 2, 3, 4, whatever, mine are bigger than the ones you get at Taco Hell, just saying, for $1.00. Come on guys.... |

You get tired of the same old stuff all the time so occasionally I'd stop at Taco Bell. However, the last couple of times it was $12-14 for 3 items. Yesterday I went to the local good steakhouse and got a 8oz top sirlon with soup, bread, and a side for $16. Sure, I gave the waitress a $6 tip (both my wife and I ate lunch there); but for just a few dollars more I'd much rather eat there than Taco Bell. The local Mexican restaurant is $13 for most of their larger meals...I ate there Saturday night. Tortillas, steak strips (enough to make 4 tacos), cheese enchilada, beef taco, rice and beans...plus the chips and salsa that come out at the beginning. Way better deal than Taco Bell |

That's for 3 one-third pound patties. OK then about $6 (a little less at Wally's) for a wonderful 16-ounce tray (plastic container) of mixed organic greens - kale, spinach, lettuces, etc.). Pick up some banas, blue- and blackberries, a tomato or two, onion/sprouts/whatever turns you on here, a loaf of organic bread is one option, or burger buns (harder to find organic buns). make it a couple pounds of beef and you've got lunch for at least three days for approximately ten bucks/day. A little more if you go heavier than this on the produce, which you should. I once spilled beer on my lap at a local brewery, and when asking the beertender for a napkin, they handed me a wet bar towel. Not to mention the air blowers in the bathrooms that just blow the water off your hands onto the floor, for someone to eventually slip on. "Fast food is cheap" is a fallacy. And in most major cities you can find a grocery store that will make something better for you for much cheaper. In NYC, I can get a grilled chicken wrap that I can barely finish for 9 bucks. For $30 (MAXIMUM) you can create a taco feast for a whole family.
