We’ve gone back to casserole days.

Usually makes enough to feed 5 for two days using things on hand.

Don’t get me wrong, groceries are definitely hurting the bottom line, but still cheaper than trying to eat out constantly.

Used to be able to live off the dollar menu at most places back in 2000, when I was a bachelor, and even the wife and I ate out a coupla times a week just a year or two ago, but no more.

Especially since we moved out to the country.

Now we make our own meals, and buy when stuff goes on sale.

Couple times a week I check to see what meat is on sale, and you’d be surprised what you can grab.

Roasts half off, ground beef down from $5.29# to $3.99.

Don’t do steaks, just cause they don’t go as far, but they can be found on the cheap sometimes.

Pasta dishes, and simple foods get it done.

Wish my GMa was still around.

She was a child of the depression, and damn it if she couldn’t make stuff go far.

Don’t get the styrofoam hoarding, but she was on point for food usage.

If there really was going to be a reset, then we would go back to 1920's wages and 1920's prices...Nothing has changed. A business must make a profit, so the price of goods and services are going to reflect that.

Competition will keep the prices as low as possible, to maintain market share, while remaining profitable. Just choose a minimum wage, then let the market adjust to make the math work, then stop changing shit around.

Math works only when both sides of the equation balance...If you do something to one side of the equation, you must apply that to the other side....

The old $1 Jumbo Jack is now $5.36 at my local JITB. They no longer have a dollar menu.

A large pizza and 3 sides from Pizza Hut is $60+.

Any food that you could get 20 years ago for under $5 is now around $20. (Aside from damn ramen, but instead of 10/$1, it’s 3-4/$1, so inflation checks out)

Years ago I would get a meal for about $1.50 at Taco Bell, using their 49 cent menu, like a burrito, a taco, and a tostada.
