Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72884301 The difference between now and the 80's is really like a completely different world. Gen-X was the last generation that got to experience a truly disconnected society. The Internet ruined everything. Truth! I had a winter place down on the Yucatan back in the 1990's and it was wonderful. We had a lending library for readings, and we played games at night for entertainment, and snorkeled and scuba dived during the day. Then the internet came in around 2005, and nobody talked to each other anymore. The internet ruined the place, and it became a ghost town at night, with no cocktail parties and social games. The internet is a curse to social interaction. You were 10 years too late. The Internet started becoming common in about 1995. By 1997 PCs at home and the Internet went mainstream. The changes that happened to society as a result of the Internet didn't come in the 90's...it came when everyone got a computer in their pocket (iPhone in 2007) and connected to social media. That's what did it. In 1997, people still thought AOL's Walled Garden was the Internet. Late 90's and early 2000s, stuff was still fairly normal. |

After that it just all runs together. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79869233 1990 and forward is when it all went to shit. 50's-80's easily the greatest years this nation ever saw. That's why Leftists hate and demonize that era. |

[I fixed the error in your comment for you] You know that’s true, lots of poofters rocked, and we didn’t care that they were gay, neither did their band mates that weren’t gay, it was on down the line of what we thought of them. Why did they want to make us care and focus on what they did sexually? Big Gay just never quits. They have issues. The MOST important thing you said is that we didn't really care. Live your life and peace to you. Just don't disrupt mine in the meantime. Being a talented musician overruled gayness. As it should. Unless you agree with Big Gay and that them being gay is the most important thing about them? Then good day to you sir or madam, as well. |

When I was 16 I lived in Arizona, my friends and I would hang out in Mexico, go shopping, eat and drink on the cheap and bring back some mezcal over the border. Then I moved to Germany - castle hopping, traveling to neighboring European countries. went to Oktoberfest, was there when the Berlin wall went down. Good times. |

There's always exceptions, no doubt. I just can't think of any right now. |

There were too many great albums released all at once. |

Why did they want to make us care and focus on what they did sexually? Big Gay just never quits. They have issues. When I found out that Rob Halford was gay, I was absolutely crestfallen and decided that I would never again listen to Judas Priest. That lasted for about ten minutes. I decided that I could not continue to be a headbanger without Judas Priest. I made the right decision. It was in the aerosol deodorant and hair spray. It was in the air. In the cola. We even put metal in our teeth. Some even wore it on their knuckles. But yea, Kiss was as close to metal as you could get. Maybe Alice Cooper. Just messing with ya No Metal? Metallica-Ride the Lightning ' was released in 1984. There were plenty of metal bands around. I even seen Metallica in 85 at a small venue. |
