The Thriller Begins: The Ukrainian Army Enters the City of Kherson and Russia Prepares Shelters Across the Country – WarNews247 Confirmation

Something that until a few days ago seemed unthinkable, is now being completed as according to multiple sources, Ukrainian forces are entering the desert city of Kherson. This is Russia's biggest geopolitical defeat since 1990.

The Kremlin handed over a city that according to the Russian Constitution and based on the referendum is Russian and is Russian territory. And even without a fight.

Russian and Ukrainian sources speak of thousands of Russian soldiers trapped on the right bank of the Dnieper. Russian military phalanxes were spotted moving south of Nova Kakhovka while artillery attempted to cover the troop movement with fire.

With the abandonment of Kherson, two more problems arise for the Russians.

First, the zone of control of the Ukrainians in the south is being expanded and the range of MLRS Himars is increasing. The Ukrainians will now be able to strike even further and deeper into the Russian lines.

The second problem is the non-implementation of Russia's nuclear doctrine. If Russia does not implement its nuclear doctrine then its deterrence sinks. Under no circumstances will he use nukes unless the Ukrainians move toward Crimea. And no one will take her seriously anymore.

However, on this matter, the US ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield warned a while ago that the US will unleash its full force if Russia carries out its dire threats of a nuclear strike against its enemies.

What is troubling is the control of shelters across Russia.

Ukrainians didn't believe it: "There are up to 50,000 Russian soldiers there"
“Currently, there are between 30,000 and 50,000 Russian soldiers in Kherson and its surroundings. They are not going to back down."

This was stated a few hours ago by the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Vadym Skibitsky, in an interview with the Italian edition of La Repubblica

The spokesman for the Ukrainian military intelligence service said he believed Russian authorities had begun the evacuation of the civilian population to facilitate hostilities.

What did the Polish general say?
Polish general Mieczysław Benek does not believe in the withdrawal of Russian troops from Kherson. He believes that Russia is luring the Armed Forces of Ukraine into a trap.

"We're dealing with a simulated retreat, everything looks very suspicious, " Benek said.

The general believes that a possible scenario is a partial retreat and the setting of "traps" - mines and hidden firing positions.

The question is whether they will fall for this trick," summed up the Polish general.

Bloomberg: Russia Repairs and Cleans Cold War Shelters
Meanwhile, according to Bloomberg, shelters across Russia are coming back to life after more than three decades of neglect since the end of the Cold War.

WarNews247 had revealed this information a long time ago.

Government officials are quietly inspecting basements and other protected facilities, while repairing and cleaning spaces that have not been used since the Soviet era, according to people familiar with the procedures.

The moves are part of a broader push by Russian authorities to ensure that its civil defense infrastructure is ready in the event of a wider conflict, people familiar with the situation told Bloomberg on condition of anonymity.

The campaign has not been officially announced and is not due to specific threats or plans to use civil defense infrastructure.

The shelters are yet another example of how the invasion, now in its ninth month, is fueling a broader militarization of Russian society. Kremlin officials portray the war as an existential issue between Russia and the US, a characterization Washington rejects.

Russian education officials said this week they will bring back basic Soviet-era military training in schools across the country starting next year.

“This looks like a federal decree. But it could also be an attempt by all these civil defense services to show their usefulness and that they are actually doing something," said Mikhail Vinogradov, an analyst at the St. Petersburg Policy Institute.

In the few Russian regions near the war zone where attacks have reached across the border, officials have publicly confirmed the movement for shelters.

A top Kremlin security official, Nikolai Patrushev, ordered a full inventory of shelters in southern Russia in April, demanding that those taken from federal property be returned.

But inspections and sweeps of civil defense facilities, typically built in the basements of apartment buildings, schools and government offices in the Soviet era, are taking place in cities across the country, according to people familiar with the situation.

Information about some of them has been leaked from time to time on social media, prompting local officials to deny any special campaign. Last month, the health ministry issued a statement saying it does not set up operating rooms in shelters, while Moscow education officials denied that schools were being inspected.

But efforts are already on people's minds. For example, one realtor in Moscow said that some of his clients have started asking if the apartments he offers have shelters in the building's basements, now seeing them as a valuable piece of equipment.
