I think he was just being dry. Like as in "Dear Lord look at this girl, I'm gonna wish I could have a shotgun." That was my take. If he was like that all the time, she wouldn't be happy like that.

After watching more videos - it just seems he's sitting back and letting his daughter just be who she is. He definitely doesn't come off as a stage dad and completely lets her be her without any coaching on his part.

In a rare instance we get to see a child and her daddy share a happy innocent moment - and you have to crap all over it.

Yes - I know there are parents out there teaching their kids to twerk. Yes - I know there are parents out there encouraging their children to give pedos dollar bills at a strip show. I came across this precious video and thought I'd share a glimpse of what could be, what should be for our children. I hope there are more parents out there building strong families like this dad is doing.

It's great you picked up on this, most Americans don't. You see it's a British subtle humour that you are picking up and not recognising as humour. In the UK humour is very subtle and what makes this clip even more entertaining than just the awesome kid singing tracks from the 80's is the dead pan expression of the Dad....his whole demeanor is very dead pan and almost unimpressed ...think of the style of Ricky Gervais for example.
Americans are not really onboard with this style. A young girl singing like this is usually accompanied with gushy parents leading them on or joining in.
I love British humour but I get why many Americans don't get it.
