Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84339354 I don't thing he got bite, with that size even a small amount would have been fatal. I wonder what happens if they eat the head with venom. I doubt they eat the head. They know it's poison. When we kill rattlers at the ranch, we even cut the head off and bury it, so the yellow jackets won't eat the poison and then bite people! It's not the snake meat, it's the poison in the glands, we don't want to take any chances, we're a long way from medical care. Once you kill the snake, do not handle the head with anything but a shovel, the severed head can strike you, even after it's cut off! Anonymous Coward User ID: 84370477 10/11/2022 05:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Are they immune to snake venom? The rattler had to have injected something in one of those strikes, no? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84344574 They are not immune to snake venom and yes, the snake probably did pop him a time or two. In the end that cat will be lucky to survive, and if he does, he probably won't fuck with another rattler. Hmmm mmmm, the video shows the bobcat on Oct 6th killing and eating the snake. It also shows the bobcat the next day on October 7th and the cat looks fine to me. I don't think you know what you're talking about and if you do, please tell me and let's slow screen those shots where the snake connected with the cat cause I don't believe it ever did. |

Quoting: Alabaster Braintrust Damn... I'd love to pet one. Was my first cat. Mean as hell. I loved it. Found in a barn at 8 weeks. Had him 20 years. Ferocious to the end. Mad respect for these guys. Did you keep it inside? Yup. We lived in a second story apartment at first. He was sitting in the window when he spotted a loose dog in the parking lot. Fucker broke the window and jumped off the balcony and latched on to the dog. Took me two brooms to get him off. Hated dogs. To this day, I sleep with all my limbs safely tucked under the sheets. The meat is fine, they serve rattlesnake meat at fine restaurants. It's the head where the poison is. Even a severed snake head can strike you after the snake is dead. Quoting: Alabaster Braintrust Have always had Bob Cats around everyplace I have lived as an adult. They can kill a small deer with no problem, high end weight limit for the average Bob Cat is 75 lbs. No a small child is NOT safe from them. Nor are your pets like cats and dogs, small goats, sheep, new born calves or foals. As far as the rattlers are concerned ... some of my cats thought it was fun to mess with the rattles ... they died. Have had several dogs kill rattlers but they got bit on their faces. Had one small baby goat get its lips ripped up when she got to close to a small rattler here on the ranch. She lived after three weeks of feeding her with a syringe to keep her alive. The last rattler I killed, a few months back, had 9 rattles on it. Not the biggest snake or set of rattles I have gotten over the past 40+ years of living in snake country. And YES, they can taste like Chicken! |

Or it is immune. One or the other. Either way, a cool display of nature. Within the surreal depths of "reality" lies the truth. |
