Blaming the dog breed instead of the owner is so democratic.

Ive raised some of the most amazing dogs in my time. I've raised, owned, and bread "pit bulls" for forty years. Ive never had a dog even act aggressive towards a human. I have my dogs around small children and other dog breeds on a perpetual basis. I also have them around livestock! Goats, chickens. ducks, cats, pigs. They guardian over all of them proudly.

M6 pitbull is a sweetheart. Those pitbuls were abused to act like.that. anyndog can become a killer if you trwat them wrong. Mine is loved and treated well.

You people that dont understand dogs are the.problem. dumbasses.

You must feed these dogs and all powerful dogs well and I don’t mean the cheapest dog food on the shelf. Let them have a good taste of that steak you are cooking as well. A walk is also essential. And they have the ability to hear hair grow so a screaming child becomes a shrill of a wounded animal. It hurts their ears.

A lot of people should NOT own dogs, especially any strong willed breed.

You have to make yourself the Alpha to the dog(s), and you don't do it by beating them; that makes biters.

Women alone, the majority, have trouble controlling and raising kids, we all know this, and it isn't just the bwacks.

If your kids don't listen your dogs won't.


In addition, a LOT of people are very bad dog handlers and breeders; they could care less about breeding 'good' intelligent animals.


If you are going to get a puppy, try to meet the parents and see how well behaved they are.

If either one is on a chain and barks and growls when you show up, well there's a clue for you sherlock.

Nanny dogs of old? They were bred to fight - baiting bulls, bears and dog fights.

The breed that's known officially as a nanny dog because of its patience and gentleness with kids is the English Staffordshire bull terrier. They were bred for the same blood-thirsty purpose as the pit bull, but even when that kind of sick sport was all the rage, they were only aggressive with other beasts, not with people. They were bred that way so that their owners could get hold of them in the fighting ring to seperate from their adversary without getting bitten.

And when the sporting side was banned, the English Staffy was further bred to make them into good companion dogs. They are sweet with people, especially kids, but still have it in them to be aggressive towards other dogs, so need careful training and management for that reason.

Staffy's (not American ones though, which are different again) get a lot of bad press because they look quite similar to pit bulls and people confuse the breeds.

I wouldn't have a pit bull for all the tea in China, but I'd have a staffy in a heartbeat - but only if I had time to train it so it knows what's acceptable. They are super keen to please their people. That's why tit heads over here get them and mistreat them sometimes - they're a powerful, fearless creature, and because the dogs are ultra keen to do their owner's bidding, if the owner brings them up to be monstrous, they will oblige. That's the kind of twit owner who wants the dog so that they look hard to impress similarly idiotic peers.

Don't have to put them all down to make them extinct.

I know a lot of people who have "rescued" them. Mostly people with no kids and too much time and money. People who swear they are rescuing them but really want them to have a killer dog. One crazy chick I went to high school with has like 5, acts like they are princesses.

I don't trust them at all, because of the few pitbulls who I trusted with my own neck ... ones that I was familiar with ...

An old boyfriend and I used to watch his cousin's pitbull on the weekends sometimes. The dog was fine, until my boyfriend would touch or kiss me. Its reaction was scary AF.

As a teenage babysitter, I babysat for a family with pitbulls and the dogs were fine with the kids but extremely protective of them. If my own parents came to pick me up and came to the door, they were ready to attack.

No thanks. I stay far away from pets that could kill children. It should be illegal to breed and sell them. There should have been no more full blooded pitbulls decades ago. Dog breeding in general is so sus ... wrought with problems.

Remember when most people just had mutts? When I was a kid, everyone had a mutt that they found on the side of the road. None of these Arnold Schwarzenneger dogs.

All you pittie haters have you ever actually been around 1? I'm sure NOT. I woudn't own any other dog I've had 2. 1 I found on the side of the road the other I rescued off Craigslist. Best dogs ever. Yes, it is, but at the same time, you have to be willing to address a breed's inherent traits realistically - and have a plan for dealing with them in a way that assures everyone's safety and security. Both sides of this whole argument have merit. Many people who own these breeds have no business raising any dog much less a dangerous one. So an argument could be made about limiting their availability to the general public. These are not "starter" dogs, especially the rescues. They only thrive under strict supervision and constant correction. Most people aren't prepared to do what it takes to raise one correctly.

I've been around nice Pitbulls, but that breed clearly has a higher tendency towards violence and needs to go extinct.

I don't think it's a coincidence either that every Pit owner I've ever come across is stupid as shit.
