What happens to the swipes I share with SwipeBlue?

Your swipes are used to help volunteers identify democratic supporters to contact. These voters are already known voters, but we need your help to identify the most important voters to get to the polls to win this election. All personal identifying information about your swipes is anonymized before being stored.

BLUE voters will be given relevant information on how they can vote safely in their state from our partner BallotReady.

RED voters are noted, but not contacted.

During the installation process, we ask you for explicit permission to store your cellphone number and name. Your privacy is essential - we only store your cellphone for these purposes:

We then ask you for explicit permission to access your cellphone contacts including phone, first and last name, company name, state, and email. We use this contact data to match your contacts to the public voter file to check if they are registered to vote and with which political party (if any) and in which districts.

We store your individual contact data on our server only after you swipe them - we call these “swipes.” We store their name, state, phone, voter registration, districts, and swipe color. We store your swipes so we can

track who has been contacted by users like you, to make sure each voter is not annoyed by texts from too many friends. Our limit is 3 contacts per voter.
