Rich people like to live near the ocean. Oceanfront property where I live (not FL), is five to ten times more expensive than elsewhere, even in the same town.

Wealthy areas can afford to have publicists to tell everyone how poor off all the rich people there are while poor areas have no publicists.

Show me to the coastal property that I can afford then please. All the wealth is at the coasts, pretty much everywhere on earf. Turns out that is where hurricanes hit land the most.

You DO NOT know what you are talking about. Point in case, Mexico Beach in the panhandle got wiped out by hurricane Michael….from the coast all the way up to the FL/AL state line- extremely poor areas- very few wealthy.
Truth is, there is always a nearby poverty stricken area next to the mega wealthy area’s. There are also old neighborhoods that are just not able to withstand strong storms. Of course, the wealthy are going to build sturdier homes.

Well those islands are there to help buffer hurricanes. Not that hurricanes target wealthy people. It happens that usually only wealthy people can live on these islands and right on the beach these days. All coasts have wealthy people on them. The less wealthy are always further away from the water.
