Hurricane Hunters sampling #Ian this evening have found the storm to be strengthening, arguably more than what was expected from this morning's forecasts, w/ SFMR of up to ~ 75 kts (85 mph) in #Ian's NW quadrant.

For the Carolinas, I'm more concerned about wx impacts than I was this morning, esp for the Pee Dee region of SC into east-central NC. The combo of heavy rain leading to saturated ground + wind gusts of 50-60+ mph will favor 🌳 falling onto power lines/power outages

I use this to stalk hurricanes and movement and wind km per hour!

I find it interesting the increase in wind speed today!!

I also find it interesting that forecasts in SC still don’t know exactly WTH is going on!!!

They are steering Ian!!! And maximizing it!!!!

The most recent storm to affect South Carolina was Hurricane Florence. Florence made landfall at Wrightsville Beach on September 13, 2018.

9.13.2018 - 9.30.2022 = 1478 days

1478 = 20 | Genesis 49:4 = 53 _ (73)10 = 1

At 1100 PM EDT (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Ian was located

Friday. The center will move farther inland across the Carolinas

The forecast confidence was low. A decision will be made whether to extend warnings up the NC coast. Latest 11 PM
advisory was winds of 80 mph. Some more strengthening is
forecast due to the warm trough waters, however dry air and
some sheer are to the west. At least Charleston has the Battery........

Re: Hurricane Ian: SC - NC Edition
The wildcard with this system is storm surge, because that largely depends on
where and when it makes landfall. On the current forecast track the worst surge
would hit closer to Myrtle Beach, which is less susceptible to surge compared to
Charleston. It would also hit a couple hours after high tide, but closer to high tide
than low tide. Worst case scenario is if it moves more northwest than currently
forecast. That would put the worst surge closer to more vulnerable Charleston or
McClellansville. However, it would have to move faster to make landfall close to
high tide. One other factor is that they are currently experiencing "King tides",
which result in higher than normal high tides.

I’ve got family in Monks Corner
Theyre on Lake Moultrie. They get some pretty nasty storms there. Granny loses the dock every few years.

First brown out and the rain hasn't started.
 Quoting: Craft

I'm on the Georgia coast and it has not rained here at any time. So I guess we are on the "dry" side of the storm.

Getting some pretty stiff gusts for several hours now. The weirdest thing to me is how cool it is. I am surprised with it being about 57 degrees that it could even gain wind strength. First hurricane for me that it's been this cold in September and be watching for a storm.

Yes, I'm on the FL line. I thought it it was extremely odd for it to be 60 degrees with a hurricane on the way.

A cold front just came thru. The warm ocean water fuels the storm. No eye but still packing a punch.

My daughter lives in Charleston. She is far enough inland to hopefully be ok. I have ridden out cat 2 hurricanes a few times and it wasn't to bad other then downtown flooding.

For except we had lingered

Meaning, If we hadn't delayed, we would have already been there a second time.
