I have ridden out cat 2 hurricanes a few times and it wasn't to bad other then downtown flooding. Quoting: kdog82 Mine is on John's Island. I've been a few times years ago and remember how bad downtown gets with just some rain. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 80824686 United States 09/29/2022 05:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Be aware these weather people are liars. They try to overhype weak storms and underhype strong storms to get people killed, evac from safe places to more dangerous areas. This might be like Katrina and strengthen at the last second, it wasn’t even spose to be category 1 and it is already. No doubt it will land on a republican state like South Carolina or Georgia and avoid North Carolina so they will misforcast it on purpose to kill more and make the governors look bad. I would take extreme caution in coastal areas. |

It could go either way. |

Quoting: The Empress I just heard from my daughter the latest alert they've received is that Ian is expected to be at a cat 2 when it makes landfall. Just before 9 this morning they were saying 5-8' storm surges. Thank you! I have a daughter and her friends...all alumni.... traveling to Clemson. They have their rain gear with them...just hoping for a good game night on Saturday with not too much rain! Last Edited by nutmeg on 09/29/2022 06:06 PM |

This will be her first hurricane since moving there. Mine as well. She moved earlier in the year from Charlotte and didn't like the tornado warnings. Yet she said she isn't worried about this. Go figure. |

I have ridden out cat 2 hurricanes a few times and it wasn't to bad other then downtown flooding. Quoting: kdog82 My daughter also lives in Charleston. This will be her first hurricane since moving there. My daughter lived there. Years ago there was a hurricane watch....Charleston was told to evacuate. So she and her boyfriend took their cat and drove west in bumper to bumper traffic for endless hours with a cat crying all the way. Hurricane never occurred. |
