What genius thought it would be a great idea to have them all organised like that?

Beyond a photo op...

Well would fuckin be smart thinking to have them spread out ti cover...I don't know...the whole area getting hit...

Hopefully someone at least film's all those trucks trying to get out to emergency calls at the same time.

They will work 12 plus hour shifts of heavy labor every day for the next month. Try to be a bit more appreciative that during a national labor shortage, there are professionals willing to work outdoors in the sun in swampy conditions while you sit around and complain about them on GLP.

We get to hear from yet another aussie brainiac.

I've contracted out for Bell Canada and Telus in Canada.

Many if not most will be there for weeks, some for months. They were staged, OBVIOUSLY, in a safe place. Many will take hours, and days to get where they are needed.

I am very amazed at the level of preparations DeSantis did to get ready for this.

Yep. I was making 12K a month, that included per diem, when Bell Canada and Telus were on strike at the same time back in 2005.

I had the offer to go to Katrina at the same time, for $100 an hour plus per diem; I didn't do it, I thought that show would go on after the Telus deal. It didn't, not for the company I was contracting out to.

They will also be dealing with a lot of mosquitoes I imagine.

Maybe they can call in an air strike like Houston did after Harvey.

The Air Force came in and layed down the fog. Didn't see a skeeter for 3 weeks after that.

They are spread out. We have ten locations like that. They were staged outside the main impact area.

Hope they can find enough electrical parts and components because many are in such short supply or on back order right now. Hubby is an electrician and he talks all the time about not being able to find what he needs to complete simple jobs at times.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47927245

The electric company said they have everything they need from poles to transformers.
 Quoting: Florida Man

Then why the long estimated repair times...?

Seems a public relations gimmick.
 Quoting: Sol-tari

For the most part the really large equipment and substations don't fare that badly in these storms.

It's the smaller stuff and individual hook-ups that need repair. This is exacerbated by debri and fallen trees and what not. Hundreds of thousands of hook-ups. That's why it takes so long for some to get their electricity back.

To establish a centralized base of operations, while the damage is being assessed, they are planning and prioritizing the most critical areas that need immediate attention. All the while they are assembling the crew and doing a 'headcount' to see what they have to work with.

To me it all looks well organized, almost like they had a plan ready to go.

Good on DeSantis.

Shit...with all that damage...maybe it would have been a good idea to spread them out...so a single down bridge wouldn't fuck up the whole convoy...

But then again, I just need a booster or something cause I don't know shit, or something something
