Fighting Windmills. Mezzo's Thundering Thursday Thoughts..
I know I posted this years ago in a thread, but I thought with everything that is going on in our world, it might be the right time to post it again, as to me it seems more topical than ever.

Fighting Windmills

windmills

A few days ago I ran into someone who was quite sad and depressed about the state of our current society. The detachment of people, the drums of war, the political landscape, discussions about nothing, anything and everything, the turmoil in his own circle of life, how he sometimes gets angry about nothing at all, that everything used to be better. It was a half-hour tirade, packed in less than fifteen minutes. Admittedly, it was raining, it was a dark day, but still, this was deep, very deep. And although I myself am positive, even to the point of being naive, I did recognize what he said. I also see it around me. That feeling of fighting windmills.

Life sometimes leads to dilemmas. Personal, business, socially. In every area and to every degree. And yet, we need our healthy minds in a society that seems to be increasingly dominated by financial and societal stress, social media and irritating global political correctness and where our own minds sometimes threaten to be replaced by the artificial "intelligence" around us.

Relying on your own instincts, core qualities, norms and values and the power to put things in perspective and with that find and keep connection with others is becoming increasingly important. We must stay as close as possible to our core and protect ourselves against the chaos and speed of society. It is impossible to avoid everything that goes with that, as it is part of the technology and communication society we are in, but we are still the ones who weigh what we believe is our priority in life and which things we want to exclude or want to at least make less important.

I truly believe, that when you write down what used to give you joy and pleasure in the past compared to today, you can figure out the things that affect you most and are still with you. Through that you create a basis of positiveness and self-confidence that you can continue building on and at the same time give counterweight to everything that affects you negatively today.

Never give up! Keep believing in good and positive, in yourself and others, in connection, in the fact that love will always conquer hatred, even if it feels like you are fighting windmills.

Much love to all of you hf

Take the darkest hour
Break it open
Water to repair
What we have broken
There's something that you won't show
Waiting where the light goes
Maybe anywhere the wind blows
It's all worth waiting for

Thank you so much dear Mezzo for your encouraging thoughts.

Things will indeed change if we change. Our power to create is very underestimated: it often escapes our attention that our thoughts, ideas, words and actions - every last one of them - contribute to the atmosphere around us and - in the final analysis - to the global situation around us.

So, if we see corruption, abuse, dishonesty and failure to authentically communicate on the world stage, it is an invitation to ask ourselves where we - on a daily and personal basis - fail to communicate adequately, where we avoid being completely honest in situations which require it, where we are "corrupted" and where we indulge in forms of abuse, whether this involves others or whether we are abusing ourselves.

If we realize that this is our own personal contribution to the "greater picture", then we will also realize that a change in our behavior will have an impact on the greater picture. It will inevitably change for the better.

President Biden messed up everything again, now the heading is in the horror genre.

"Jackie, are you here? Where's Jackie?"

So the American leader called for a member of the House of Representatives Jackie Walorski, who died in a car accident in August.

At first, the US president tried to find her, but then suggested that she could not attend the event.

For what it is worth and no disrespect meant, you can post your thoughts on how you see things in the broader aspects of life, but I won't allow specific political based quarrels here.

Feel free to share on how you experience todays society from your own perspective and how you feel about how that impacts your life, but if you want to start an in depth discussion about the mental capabilities of one or the other, start your own thread or post it somewhere else.

Plenty threads that cover that subject. This is not the thread for that.

I love your thoughts on this CC. And even though we can not influence everything that goes on around us and it at times gives you the feeling that you want to give up, especially when there seems to be no end to the stress, anxiety and other mental and practical problems we go through on a daily basis, at those deadline times we often experience that we carry much more strenght than we might think.

Sometimes we need others to remind us of that. And even though todays society has become more individual and distant, there are still many around us that do have an open eye and ear for others. So never be afraid to speak up and reach out, even if that also does feel like fighting windmills. hugs

Dear Mezzo,I like your mind and the way you're trying to explain others, I like how you look to the world and people you care in your way, many don't see others how you see them, you can feel and see even around them, amazing gift you have! I wish this gift is coming and opens those people hearts and minds in a good and positive way, because that's how you want it, people like you makes life just stronger, better, and more smile and happiness is coming into your life after. I know you're doing right way what you are doing! Thanks that you are, and never give up my Friend!hf

From OP:
“Never give up! Keep believing in good and positive, in yourself and others, in connection, in the fact that love will always conquer hatred, even if it feels like you are fighting windmills.”

Love will always conquer hatred?

We must live in separate universes.

If one ceases to live in a fantasy world, then yes, love conquers hatred, but if the twin blinders of hope and belief are removed, one will immediately see that such option is entirely unwarranted.

I suspect that the OP has never lain in a rice paddy, with the cries of his wounded friends piercing his ears, while other men unknown to him are trying desperately to end his life. It would bring the actual, default state of mankind into crystal-clear focus, and shatter any illusions regarding any imagined triumph of love that he might have previously cultivated.

Re: Fighting Windmills. Mezzo's Thundering Thursday Thoughts..
this one was one of my favorites

Thread: Mezzo Mezzage; Thursday Thoughts..
2020

No Midweek Mezzorant this week, but a personal experience and some thoughts added to that. Apologies upfront for the length of it, but when I write, I do so from the heart and it is everyone's own choice to read it or not.

A few weeks ago, I had applied for a call center job through a temp employment agency, to do some contact and source tracing at the local Health Service, for people who had tested positive. It required empathy and communication skills and they needed LOTS of people, fast. Terrible pay, but I thought it would be a good way to help out a bit in this crisis we are all going through, whether you believe in it or not.

Got a reply, that they believe I don't have enough experience with social client contacts. LOL. Having worked in a management role within customer service and planning, with a major aspect in communication on all levels, from client to workers, in crisis situations and beyond, that sounded really odd.

I replied to them that they really made a cartoon out of themselves with that reply and should have come up with a different excuse to not hire someone who is nearly 60 (in a few days), with lots of in the field experience and skills in that area, who was more than willing to accept their terrible ridiculous pay per hour, just for the sake to mean something in society in this crisis. And to do their home work next time...

FNamatuers1

I should have included that meme lmao. I know, it's a bit of a pity, because I honestly thought that was something that I would have loved doing and since they needed a lot of people, chances would be high. But as some know, I already decided that I will be retiring early, in June next year, 9 more months to go. So no pressure there, but what a utter bullshit excuse that was, lol.

Actually, I thought it was kind of funny, since it totally fits into the thinking process of how most recruiters and HR departments look at hiring people these days.

I know, funny is a relative observation as well, because I know that a lot of people have it much worse than me and are very much dependent on having a job, no matter what age they are. Even more in times of crisis like these. So no disrespect meant regarding that whatsoever. I always wish everyone nothing but the best in life, in health, in wealth and in being safe.

In most fields age is most likely the biggest knock out factor, despite recruiters and other employment gurus on LinkedIn and other platforms claiming it is not. I truly believe they only put that stand there to get more visibility and clientele for themselves.

Anyway, the positive side of it is that it gives me food for thoughts, like this Mezzage. I can't claim to be the ultimate expert in this, because there are many people much older and wiser than me, who have suffered war, loss and destruction, but if there is one thing I have learned as an up-and-coming expert when it comes to age, it is that we have always conquered even the darkest times in our lives and this time it will be no different.

Most of you who read this can for sure find examples in life, where they thought they would not make it out on top, but still did. Not easy at all, life sometimes (and sometimes much more often than that) plain sucks, on whatever level and in whatever field. But I have said it so often and probably people get tired of hearing it, but at weakest moments we find strength. In ourselves and those around us who mean nothing but good for us and our society.

When you go from that mindset, nothing can really defeat you. Negative influences like hate, racism, violence, degrading and ridiculing someone's lifestyle or whatever else that goes around in our personal lives and society, may try to divide us or make us abandon hope and give up, but as long as we stick to our core and go from determination, encouragement and the will to survive, individual and together, nothing can defeat us.

So keep believing in yourself and those around you in your own circle of influence. Times will change for the better. It might take a while and test our beliefs, but they will, always. We will not fail. We haven't done so in the past and we won't do so now or in the future. No matter what.

Enjoy your Thursday Time Zones. Much love and wisdom to all of you! hf
