Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84283058 FL Weatherman Slammed On Twitter ... AFTER POSTING VID OF STRUGGLING KITTEN IN STORM [link to www.tmz.com (secure)] You hive-minded people are ridiculous. The guy said he tried to save it. People should not risk their lives or others to save a cat. Like mentally-stunted 10 year olds! If you ask a bunch of people what 2+2 equals, and they say 4, does that make them hive-minded? No. It makes them correct. There's a difference. Accusations of hive-mindedness should only be made when people arrive at a conclusion simply because the group has also arrived at that conclusion. That does not apply to this case, because the morally correct action was obviously to save the cat. The fact that you do not understand that, and even hurl venom at the rest of us marks you as the least among us. For intellectually challenged people such as yourself, note that the "risk to his life" in traversing a few inches of water was not that great. Take a good look in the mirror. You are the mentally and spiritually stunted 10-year-old in the room. If it's a few inches of water, then the cat is not in danger. It was a kitten, not a fully grown cat. |

LETS IT DIE I bought a place in the mountains in a rural area a couple years ago, there used to be a lot of feral cats, the ones my dogs didn't tear apart, I shot, now there are a lot more birds, lizards, frogs and other natural wildlife in my yard. Shoot a cat, save thousands of native species, that goes for your neighbors cat when it comes to raid the bird nest in your yard, no mercy. If we applied your twisted logic to all species, then we would have to shoot all predators on sight, not just cats. That is obviously a ridiculous position to take. If we do not apply your logic to all species, then it seems you are unfairly targeting cats - seemingly because you just hate cats. Maybe you should learn the difference between what are Native species, and what are an invasive species. cats are invasive There are other predators around, that are native, such as bears, cougars, wolves and coyotes, they are ok, as they don't decimate the lower food chain like cats do. |

LETS IT DIE I don't care to watch the video, but I can tell you 6 inches of moving water can bring you down easily, especially tripping/slipping over things under the murky surface. But again, I didn't watch the video. If the water was still, not reason not to help. If it wasn't, the dude was in the right, you don't know the hazards of flood waters if you haven't been in them. |

Not all cats are kittens, but all kittens are cats. You are missing the point. An adult cat may be able to swim to safety in situations where a kitten would easily drown. Also, in that situation, even if it could swim to safety, it may not understand that it needs to do so before the water gets higher than the bench it is on. The human does understand what is happening, and should act to save the animal before it's too late. |

Btw this thread is about a useless PoS who could have saved a KITTEN. So let's not take our focus off the scumbag Dylan Frederico. People are ridiculous. I would attempt to save ANY creature. If it’s a tarantula, there is a way to do so. If it’s a snake, there is a way to do that as well. NO ANIMAL should be abandoned if there is ANY chance to save it. Have you considered the fact that you might be in the middle of a TEST? I know, I know, some will freak out about that comment, but you believe what you wish, and so will I. |

Cats do not pose the same extinction threat to native species here, who have long since adapt to the presence of cats. Thus, there is no reason to execute cats over here. |

Are you quite sure you are not talking about bobcats, because if you are talking about housecats, like the one in this video, then I call bullshit. I have both cats and chickens. The cats will not mess with the chickens. In fact, they are terrified of them. They flee when chickens approach - especially the rooster. The cat would take a little chick if it could, but mother hens are protective and it stands no chance of getting one. |
