Not once did i ever see the water get sucked out, as the storm approaches the tide surge comes in ahead of the storm bringing water inland before the storm arrives. This could be a doozy of a storm. Quoting: ISLANDIA The water will come back in with storm surge after the hurricane passes this area then it’s reverse cycle it’s pushing water not pulling it I would think the severity of the reduction in water it’s just the opposite of how much storm surge should be expected. South Florida has been getting extremely high and low tides prior to the hurricane by about 2’ So many single story homes will suffer Catastrophic flooding. And the outcry for disaster funding will once again be prominent. Keep developing near the Gulf! This happens over and over. Stupid assed people It does not happen over and over on the west coast. I think it means the hurricane picked up all the water and will dump it over mainland. How the hell can it suck up all the water, doesn't the ocean have absolute shit tons of water and won't that water just, ya know, flow back into the bay? Hurricanes have a very large volume of low pressure, a vacuum. Under the hurricanes the ocean water, being a fluid, draws up above the sea level. In front of the hurricane is high pressure, so the ocean water gets pushed from the high pressure areas to the low pressure areas. Also, depending on how fast the hurricane is moving it can cause a type of tsunami, a storm surge. After the storm passes the sea level moderates. Smoke me a kipper, I’ll be back for breakfast.
