They often take things too far no doubt but in many cases it’s justified due to previous stupid behavior. Yellowstone is a good example of marked trails for good reason. Way too many people go out into that beautiful wild land thinking they are the next Bear Gyrlls and that they know everything about everything.

15 minutes later they are hopelessly lost and continue to go further and further. Then hundreds of thousands of dollars for helicopters and other people have to risk their lives to go find that asshole from urban Chicago that thinks they are the epitome of survivalist now lost in a Forrest of a different nature than the urban one they created.

Wildlife as in Grizzly bears, wolves and others will stalk a human when not afraid and because we have moved closer to them often they have learned not to be afraid and kill that food. Other dangers await in Yellowstone like Bison or moose. The urban tourist just has to get that perfect pic for their fake book page. They will walk right up to a 2 thousand pound animal or towards a baby animal and create a dangerous situation for everyone around and a hospital bill for themselves.

At least once a year someone goes off the boardwalks so again that perfect selfie can be had in front of one of the gysers. Never thinking about how hot 2 thousand degrees is, they are instantly disappeared and become earth soup or injured and others now must endanger themselves to get them out.

And there are places where people go to get those valuables in nature like mushrooms or ginger. And while I believe you should have access to that part of nature, there are far too many that don’t respect nature and just completely ruin it for others and rape the land without it having chance to replenish either from complete ignorance or greed.

So sometimes it’s a necessary evil to restrict access. It’s hard to find a balance. Keep in mind too that some especially foreign citizens will walk into a forest with a plant from wherever they came from in order to grow some delicacy they grew up with that ends up taking over a forest as a invader killing anything and everything else that is natural including wildlife that no longer has the food it needs.

People just need to police themselves but we know greed and stupidity get in the way and big brother then steps in and ruins it for everyone.
