Tampa area, have not heard a bird all day, bats acting weird.... hurricane?

Yeah, big hurricanes tend to really destroy the ecosystem. I remember as a kid going to Biloxi after some huge storm was a year or so ago, and the water was black, no sealife, you really couldn't swim there, was quite gross actually, lots of oil pellets.

I wonder what the national hurricane center uses to decide on a track. The ECMWF european model is most accurate, then GFS, those are current prediction has those intersecting at Crystal Bay, the MHS is off to the west about 30 miles.

Flipping coins or guessing, maybe know some secret black ops HAARP info. I don't care for where those two lines intersect. Nobody here prepping either in Citrus. Wednesday afternoon probably.

Yeah, just watched local news and they said European most accurate, and that's the one that keeps showing it close or at Tampa Bay. I really thought it was going to Pensacola earlier today, because they always do, but now does seem more likely to be closer to here.

Can't find it now, but I've seen security camera video where a dog goes nuts 10-15 seconds before an earthquake.

This storm is screwy, turning straight north maybe next update, but whatever it does be ready just in case. Its ok to be ready forthe one coming up the next week, they are suggesting miami for next one.

I hate the time it takes to get power back on.

Yeah, that's my biggest concern is power really, or maybe if this retention pond behind my place floods, that would be bad news also.

That's the one that defied all projections and decided to sit on the Bahamas for 3 days straight, then decided to turn 105 degrees and head off harmlessly into the Atlantic.

They sure do. The birds are the first to know too. I live in the middle of a large forest filled with wildlife, and all the ground based wildlife react to alerts from the birds. They even warn the deer when hunters are in the area.

I was in the ADKmts the other day, same shit. No birds, no crickets, nothing. Normally that place is jumping.

Bats are dangerous as fuck. If you get bitten or scratched by one, then you’ve got to go get the rabies prophylaxis treatment. Rabies is a horrible, slow way to die. Never ever touch them or allow them to touch you- people have been infected by the tiniest little invisible scratches. Once the first symptom shows up (backache, flue-like fever, etc) it’s already too late for treatment and 99.9% fatal. Be careful and make sure your kids know to never, ever touch a bat they find. If you ever see a bat behaving aggressively or strangely, call the State Health Department or notify Animal Control.

I was in Tampa a couple years ago. Really loved that area. Might even move there one day. but I've always liked Florida since living there one summer in Orlando. Completely the opposite of where I've lived most of my life the PNW. but despite being a screwed up blue state right now, it does have it's own benefits overall. It's just the people today that are making it harder to be here anymore.

Think the NHC basically splits the difference between the most reliable models. Of course, they don’t like to make a lot of big movements early on.
