That quote is from Bartolome de las Casas, Brevissima Relacion de la Destruycion de las Indias which was written in 1552. Columbus died in 1506. Lots of terrible things happened but where is he saying Columbus did these things?

I never said or implied that because Aztecs were bad, that all Indians were bad, that was not my point at all.

However if you read early explorer's observations as they traveled throughout the Americas, it becomes obvious that slavery was rampant among the native American tribes, though it was practiced almost all over the world.

Europeans were also victims of slave traders operating out of north Africa from around 1500 to the late 1800s. Millions of Europeans were taken by Barbary pirates from their European homelands and brought to slave auctions on the Barbary coast of north Africa. The Islamic buyers of these white slaves treated them brutally. Children were used for sexual purposes and women made into sex slaves.
