You cannot isolate one scripture to come to truth. The biblical hermeneutics is to compare spiritual to spiritual ( scripture to scripture) utilizing all scriptures in context of subject that harmonize with the whole Bible to form any conclusions. The clue is "they" ( vs.3) who today is everyone still in the corporate churches who did not heed the warning God command to come " out of her" that began May 21 1988 the beginning of the great tribulation. This is the apostasy (satan stands in the Holy place). God removed His Holy Spirit from all the corporate churches and congregation's that have identified themselves with Christ and installed satan to rule there as the daily sacrifice has been taken away. May 21 1988 was the 13000th year of earth's history according to the word of God ( biblical timeline of history), and the beginning of the great tribulation that lasted 23 years / 8400 days. September 7 1994 (the last jubilee) ushered in a 17 year time period whereas God who elected a people for Himself at the foundation of the world begin to apply salvation/regeneration to those ( elect ) outside of the churches during the biblical latter rain ( the last will be first and the first will be last) saving more souls in that timespan than any other time in history, all of this was accomplished and ended on May 21 2011 the beginning of a prolonged judgment day. Satan was dethroned as ruler of this world a right of conquest won in the garden of eden with the fall of mankind to where he ( satan ) becomes powerless losing all authority given to him in this world and is no longer relevant. Christ is no longer the belovant saviour but the judge ruling the nation's of the world with a rod of iron. As the wrath of God continues to progress during these final days the elect of God will go through this time of terrible trouble as well however, only by God's grace will they be able to endure unto the last day of judgment and the final day of this present earth's existence.

When God wrote His laws upon man's heart He instilled deep within our core the reality of His existence and the accountability of our sins as spiritually every eye will see Him and know they are in trouble with God..

The 144,000 is not a literal number, it represents completeness 12x12. However, the language of revelation 9:16 suggest a literal number. Even with this 200 million it represents approximately 14 billion who ever lived is about 1-70 actually becomes saved. This is in agreement with the bible as God elected a " remnant " chooses by grace. Why God chooses one over another is a divine mystery. Not one deserves salvation all fall short of the glory of God.

You forget Satan and his legions were " cast" out of heaven. Satan never could do anything outside the will of God. The last day Satan, his legions and un-regenerated mankind will be consumed by fire ( God is called a consuming fire ) never has consciences again.
