That was the year we moved to Hawaii. Excellent location to raise her in. The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. It has been unseasonably warm up to now, but they are reporting a change in the temperature to a high of 62 degrees the day after my birthday, which was 1962. I was in pretty good shape when I was your age, but I lost everything, went homeless, and struggled ever since - over-stressed and unable to deal with things like dental problems, which can cause heart problems, and such. Loss of sleep doesn't help much either. So, it has been a pretty fast decline. But I would attribute it to poverty more than anything else. 230 here, but 0 there. |

I remember that, when I was a kid, one school yr term used to seem to last forever. Quoting: Ballsy School terms are the measuring stick that I use, too. In first grade, time moved slowly. We had six week grading periods, and that was forever. But I wasn't all that aware of grading periods, even after getting the first report card. It was just something that happened once in a great, great while. By the time I was in high school, they'd changed to nine week grading periods, two per semester. Nine weeks was a long time, especially in fall, but nowhere near as long as six weeks had been. Then, in "real life", weeks fly by. Months fly by. Some weeks are longer than others, but viewed as a fraction of your life, a year is shorter now than a week was when you were three years old. Can't do much about it. |
